    87 F-350 Crew Cab,6.9, 5 speed ZF, 2wd, $3200 OBO

Actually, that shifter is one of a kind.....I bent the tubing and attached it to the stub shaft to get maximum knee clearance for the center seat passenger. We had four kids, so someone was in the front center fairly often. Worked perfectly.

Long lost twins!!!! And only 300 miles apart...….LOL, you should buy my truck and reunite them! They miss each other.....

    87 F-350 Crew Cab,6.9, 5 speed ZF, 2wd, $3200 OBO

Odometer shows 43,xxx, believed to be 243,xxx. Runs excellent, with many newer parts, including injector pump, glow plugs, injectors, block heater, batteries, radiator and more. Original 3 speed auto was swapped for 5 speed ZF from 89 F-350, with a partial rebuild (some bearings and...

thanks to OB, i now have a rebuilt and 5 speed swapped F250!

Those are the identical OP numbers I have, too. I guess that's not unusual for the 6.9? My "ENGINE" light was always coming on at idle with around 15 psi, so I put in a mechanical gauge and grounded the sender wire. Does anyone know if the "ENGINE" light will still come on if my coolant temp...

thanks to OB, i now have a rebuilt and 5 speed swapped F250!

Thanks,George7.3IDI for the link. I'm guessing there's not any real difference between the s5-42 and s5-47?

Hey TwoTone, were you able to find that ZF supplement?

thanks to OB, i now have a rebuilt and 5 speed swapped F250!

I just finished the C-6 to ZF swap myself. Love it so far. I do have a bad synchro though..... anyone know where to get teardown/rebuild info? I have a factory service book for 87 but it doesn't include the 5 speed. I'd rather not have to get another one if I don't have to.

    Testing CDR valve?

Well, I used a shop-vac on both ends, and it closed off both ways. I guess unless someone can tell me there's something wrong with it, I'm just going to keep it.

    Testing CDR valve?

I removed my CDR valve to clean it, because I don't know if it was ever done. It has grey paint overspray on it, so I'm guessing it's the original. My question is, how do I know if it's still working correctly? I can EASILY breathe through it in either direction, yet I see a spring inside when I...

    C-6 trans. questions

The valve behind the vacuum modulator was easily removed and moves without any binding. So, will I do any harm to this trans if I continue to shift it manually once in a while?

    C-6 trans. questions

The pin is there. I measured it, it's (1.705 in.) It should have a white paint spot according to the book. The book lists green, black and purple stripes as options on the modulator. I will look again on both for a color. I will also try to move the valve that the pin is supposed to be moving. I...

    C-6 trans. questions

When I removed the modulator I looked for the paint color on it as well as the rod, but could find no paint on either. I tested the modulator with a vac pump while it was removed. It moved smoothly and held vacuum fine. The kickdown linkage is hooked up and moves freely. I'm in the process of...

    C-6 trans. questions

If you can get to 50 mph in 2nd gear, please tell me how!!!! The vac modulator is getting the vacuum to it. I also put a vac pump on the modulator and it works correctly. It is an adjustable one, but it makes no difference in the shifts. That's why I decided to run it with the modulator...

    C-6 trans. questions

I'm not as familiar with a C-6 as I am a TH400 or a TF727, so I'm hoping someone here can help......The shift points are too early for me. I have a factory service manual, but it doesn't tell me where the shift points should be. (It says they are printed in some TSB but I have already spent way...

Better, but she still runs hot towing!

I just went through all this also.......Get the factory thermostat from Ford!!! I had problems with several others, including NAPA's. They later checked and said their computer system had the wrong recommendation. I also did the water pump and outlet while I was there, but I'm sure the problem...

Cooling prob. solved- now where's the power?

Thanks for all the input. I can't see selling this truck, I really do like it...... Except for the towing and hills part.....That being said, the group I usually travel with says not to worry, they won't disown me if I hold them up once in a while on a hill. Good friends really are nice to have...

Cooling prob. solved- now where's the power?

No, I haven't had it timed yet, but it runs great except for the towing and hills part. It was 13000 combined weight. The black smoke is mostly when I am lugging it. The hill that brought me down to 20-25 was rather steep, but I've pulled the same trailer up the same hill with my J-20 at 30-40...

Cooling prob. solved- now where's the power?

O.K., for those that read my earlier post, the factory thermostat and a new waterpump did the trick. (Pump was o.k., but changed it anyway. Thermostat was incorrect- needs the factory one!) So I finally got to tow with it, (13,000 combined weight), and although it ran cool, I thought I might...

    cooling sytem problems and questions...

One more thing, my info is that this cooling system should be about 7 gal. total. Is that correct? It doesn't seem like it's holding that much.

    cooling sytem problems and questions...

Thanks for the info. I'm not suspecting the rad yet because when the engine is hot, the lower hose is still pretty cool to the touch. This would also explain why the fan clutch isn't locking up, not enough heat coming through the rad. The coolant is all new NAPA brand with their additive. I...

    cooling sytem problems and questions...

O.K., I've tried lots of things, still need help. Rad. flows good , pump is o.k. Bought new thermostat from NAPA, compared to old therm. in water on stove. Old one opened sooner and farther than new one, but I tried the new one anyway. Truck overheated. I've now been told to only get a therm...

    cooling sytem problems and questions...

I finally got to drive the truck in warmer weather and I guess I might have some problems. The temp was upper 80's and after about 15 minutes at 65 mph (3000 RPM) the temp was almost out of the "normal" range. The "ENGINE" light came on. The coolant level is o.k., pressure cap works, etc. I had...

    Magazine options?

Well, the truck it's replacing, (J-20), got about 10-12 average and towed my CJ-7 and trailer to Tellico @ about 8.5 to 9, so if this truck does better than that I'm happy enough. It's not a DD either, got a VW Jetta for that. Thanks for the input.
