    Steering Gear

Has anyone had their steering box bolts work loose from the frame? Mine came out last night at about 30 mph, quite the ride.

Trying to diagnose an alarming knock

I'll have to pull the valve covers and rule out the guides.

Trying to diagnose an alarming knock

Is chuffing something that comes and goes? I watched the video and it sounds like one of mine, it just doesn't do it all the time.

    F-Superduty F450

I believe Quigley also did a 4x4 conversion. I would love to get my hands on a 4x4 conversion and a larger cab, but I'm guessing it's probably cheaper to buy another truck.

    Weird that they didn't.

    F-Superduty F450

Were the Obs F-Superdutys ever manufactured in an extended cab or crew cab?

    ZF Parking brake

Barely any slack in the steering. I replaced the track bar bushings and the stabilizer, all of which were toast. It's now drive-able. I think it still has a little vibration at about 40 mph, maybe I'm imagining it. Either way, going to replace tie rods, drag link, steering gear and the kingpins...

    ZF Parking brake

I replaced the track bar bushings and that helped, it's still wobbling occasionally though. I think it may have trashed the steering gear, as it now leaks like a sieve.

    ZF Parking brake

I thought I felt a little play in the brake when I was checking u-joints, thought I'd ask.

    ZF Parking brake

It's hard to tell, it's so bad, but I would say more the truck shaking than the steering wheel.

    ZF Parking brake

Ok, have to dig through the suspension I guess. It starts around 35-40 mph, about shakes the truck apart,

    ZF Parking brake

Does anyone have any experience with the ZF parking brakes used on the F450s? I suspect mine may be causing a death wobble, going to rule out any suspension issues first.

Well, I think I have one, but I don't know if everyone in this post is in agreement.

Where do you get a flexplate cloned? Such things aren't done in the upper midwest, people just park the busted up vehicles in a shelter belt forever.

Here's the block it came off of.

That works for me. If you'd like, we can hold off pending further verification by someone who is more knowledgeable than me on the subject. I would imagine there must be something stamped on the block somewhere.

    94 idi turbo flexplate- help

I'm aware of the existence of N/A '93-94.5 IDIs, there's an M code in my signature. I bought the engine for the turbo and a few other things and as a spare. Haven't verified anything, as it hasn't been an issue. And yes, I still have it.

    94 idi turbo flexplate- help

When I bought a factory '93 or '94 turbo engine, this flexplate was on it. The engine was out and the truck long gone, so who knows. But to answer your question, I do realize that any idiot can bolt on a turbo.

    94 idi turbo flexplate- help

Here's what I have. I couldn't find a part# anywhere, it's metal stamped e4od and "xmsn side" in ink. The ring gear has some damage, but it didn't seem to be an issue when I was using it to start an engine in a parts truck.

    94 idi turbo flexplate- help

I'll try and find it tomorrow. Is there a specific part# to differentiate between the N/A and the turbo flexplates? It came on a turbo motor that I bought, but that might not mean anything.

    Surging

I finally got around to wrenching on it, it was the lift pump. The injector pump must have been siphoning the fuel on it's own. It's like a new truck.

    Surging

Happened with both tanks, regardless of fuel levels.
