    Manual glow plug control

When I bought my 1986 in 2014, the controller still worked fine. When it stopped working, around 2017, the truck became nearly impossible to start. I was loathe to replace the controller for two reasons, the cost and the location, beneath the Banks Sidewinder turbo installed by a previous...

    1986 F250 HD 4x4 hubcaps

Oh, man. Never even knew that they made hubcaps for my truck. Something else to look for now, I suppose.

EPA Sheriff, Nosy Karens and my truck

Wow. I WISH one of our neighbors had the balls to complain about my truck. Long time since I was in for slapping the **** out of someone who can't mind their own business.

    Pulsing lights

Thanks for this post. I have an '86 F-250 Supercab, 6.9, with some similar issues. Haven't ever noticed pulsing lights, but, then, I seldom, if ever, drive in the dark, either. Don't want to hijack the thread, so Mods feel free to kick this or open new thread. I just replaced glow plugs...

    Rear Tank Help

Hence the reason mine is sitting out in driveway awaiting me to put it back together after new glow plugs installed.

    Moving Saturday

Yeah, that, too. We moved in with our daughter and son-in-law into his family home in March, after living in our RV's for about five years. Even though we're in town, we're on 1/2 acre, so room for garden, and six laying hens in a nice coop and run. Looking to put up some vegetables in the Fall...

    Moving Saturday

Be safe. Just reading trip posts is making me envious for a few hundred miles on the road. We're in Florida, looking for a piece of mountain land in NC, TN, or North Georgia(yeah, I know. Don't hate. lol) to escape these freaking HOT summers. May be time to get on the road and see what's what...

    Rear Tank Help

I bought my '86 in 2014(OMG, has it really been that long!?) and was really fortunate that the previous owner had recently cleaned both tanks. Unfortunately, after he put it back together, rear-tank fuel level no longer works. So, I just fill it, drive about 200 miles or so, and switch tanks...

    In case of EMP

One of the MAIN reasons that I bought my truck to begin with was precisely because I wanted a truck for our family that will get us through the coming collapse, whatever form it may take.

    glow plug drilling/extraction

Glad to see this one, as I'm gonna have to do mine here shortly. Getting tired of having to plug in block heater every night. Yep. Florida. Every night. Even Summer. Very strange.

    Glow plug relay

Awesome. Thanks, man. At 64, I've got lots to learn, yet.

    Glow plug relay

That would have been a good idea, if I hadn't already done the installation. Now. Should I leave the purple wire, or remove it before I put the new wire on the terminal? TIA.

    Glow plug relay

Thanks loads, man. I'll give it a try.

    Glow plug relay

I appreciate the post, because I've been trying to figure out how to bypass the glowplug controller on my 6.9 for over a year, with no success. Bank's Sidewinder sits on top of the controller, which is apparently Tango Uniform. Installed a pushbutton, a wire from battery to one side of the...

    I'm done

Gonna watch this thread close. I have an '86, 6.9, w/Banks Sidewinder installed before I bought it. Lately, tran wants to grind a bit going into 4th. Dumb question. Does rear fuel tank actually have a pickup, because mine has never worked. I just run it until it flutters, then switch to Front...

    Help needed for hard Starting

Well. Went out yesterday to try the truck. Took a few extra tries, but it did catch, so, maybe, the 6.9 will behave itself while I continue to get some work done on it, a little at a time.

    Help needed for hard Starting

Okay. Gonna jump in here, if I may. My '86 F-250 has the 6.9, with a Banks Sidewinder that was installed after the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner. Let me confess at the outset that I'm not a gearhead, especially where diesels are concerned, but I do love my truck, and want to learn...

    Looking at 6.9 to buy

Here's my '86, 4wd, 4spd, 6.9. I paid $4300 four years ago, because the guy showed me service receipts for complete motor rebuild. I'll give it to my grandsons, if the body outlives me.

    7.3 Glow Plug Time

Thanks, guys. This one is very timely, my 6.9 had been a b...h to start since early January, even in Central Florida. I'm having to keep heater plugged in every time I go to crank it. Controller seems to have gone T/U all at once upon returning from our daughter's. Even yesterday, temps in 80's...

    Siezed mirror

Thanks, guys. I thought that I was just being wimpy, because I couldn't move the mirrors on my '86 F-250. I was afraid to crank on them too hard, for fear of breaking something. Now I know that I can go out and get radical with them.

    Fuel level sending units

Okay. Not to hijack thread, but the rear tank of my 86 6.9 doesn't read at all. I just fill it up and run it til empty, then switch to the front, which works fine. Help!?

    Rear tank sending unit

Thanks for this info. Bought my '86 last year. Rear sending-unit's never worked. Thought that it was left-over project from major motor rebuild from previous owner. Left several things not working. Nothing major, but annoyances. No horn(need something that will peel paint), electric door locks...
