I traded my 94 IDI T/D last weekend with a coworker so my daughter could have some wheels for the summer. The vehicle I got in trade is worth twice (6,500) what the dealer was offering me for a trade in (3,200). I got her in 96 with 30,000 on the clock best truck I ever owned. Still has the...
measure of air flow into and out of an engine (CFM = CID x RPM x VE ÷ 3456).
The factory turbo has a VE of 1.2 or so figure a better flowing intake and bigger downpipe and exhaust I guesstimated it at 1.4 . 444 CIDx 3300Rpmx1.4divided by 3456= 593 cfm I tow at 2300 in Od so this is only 413 CFM...
Mike why do You need a cummins so bad ??? your E4Od shit the bed last I remember , so now you have a BTS with the same motor and a turbo ?? Take it easy when you have a load and you will be ok! You might need a few more gears but the motor is fine learn how to drive a truck its not like jumping...
Just put them in there is a noticable improvement but the old ones had 178k on them. I had a knock in the left bank and a chuff in the tailpipe like a miss or dead hole its gone now so yea im happy with them LOL
Was wondering what the difference was between N/A and Turbo rods? Is it just a N/A rod resized for the bigger wrist pin? Could one have a N/A rod resized for this, or are the turbo rods beefed up in this area? Havent had one of these apart yet but would like to start gathering parts to build a...
Thats the least Ive seen tacked on to the price if you dont have a set to trade when you purchase. I assumed a shop would take a working set for the same but I have never tried it. We all know what happens when people assume :D
I just got a set of G codes for $76.00 and thats including shipping cookoo Most shops give $10.00 a piece for cores so worst case I sell them for $80.00 :D EBAY Item number: 8036275241
600 milivolts per side dosent sound bad  did you OHM the cables or check the connectors, sound like your 4 year old batteries to me. Those heater element load testers dont put half the load on a set of batteries as our high compressoin engines do
Pyro must be in the downpipe, put it before the turbo closer to the manifold to get a true reading. Like Fred said probably about 800 on acceleration and just under 600 once it levels out at highway speed .
I use the E brake at the boat ramp and every time the truck is parked, habit I guess thats how my old man showed me. The parking brake is just a mechanical back up to the hydraulic (sp) system what is it a lever couple cables and another lever on the rear end for each drum, if all this is...
I like It
 EGT,s droped a bit how much is hard to tell maybe 50 deg at highway speeds. The most noticable improvement is how much slower the temps rise and it levels off quicker once I get to crusing speed. I don't know if this is all from the cowl effect or if its just breathing...
Yea there is a lot more room in there than I thought and it was clean no leaves or anything the black gunk in the picture is the sealer ford used  I scraped that crap out sealed it with a bead of 5200 so the rain water could drain easier
I took her out for a quick test flog tonight and noticed a difference in my EGT's and the turbo whine is more noticeable ;Sweet I'll take a better look on the ride to work and get some real numbers. My next project is an intercooler so I did the cowl air to save room for the IC plumbing.
HOMEMADE COWL AIR
I been thinking about this for a while so after I saw this thread I had a few beers and grabed the grinder  ;Sweet I used the factory turbo intake cut it (see pic) cut a hole in the cowl shoved it in sealed both sides with 3m 5200.The picture shows the stock plastic...
Just found this place nice site better than some of the others I have trolled on ;Sweet. I have a 94 with the ATS turbo in it and am considering the upgrade my question is can the turbin housing be removed with the turbo in the truck and does it come off the cartridge or do you need to remove...
