2,000 rpm fluctuation at 55 mph

upload to youtube and link the videos in a post The TC is locked by the PCM grounding the signal wire from the transmission. If that wire or signal isn't constant, it wouldn't stay locked at higher speeds. Did you try manually shifting through the gears? Sounds like something is wrong with...

2,000 rpm fluctuation at 55 mph

post a video of the problem LPOP feeds the HPOP which supplies the injectors, I doubt it's that. is the truck an automatic? What happens when you manually shift gears as you accelerate? Will it hold each gear?

    Code P1298 help

Did you clear the codes after installing the new parts? The IDM code is probably from the burnt harness and ROM error is common and means nothing. Best mod I did for both my trucks was to put the GPR ground from the PCM on a switch with an LED light, that way I can see when the PCM is...

    Air Filter

no advantage aside from more noise and a lighter wallet IMO

    97 F250 7.3 Fuel delivery air??

A faulty regulator won't build the proper psi as it would just dump fuel back to the tank, and a clogged screen will restrict flow. Both are located on the side of the fuel bowl.

    97 F250 7.3 Fuel delivery air??

schrader valve is easily accessible, idle fuel pressure should be around 65psi. Has the regulator ever been rebuilt? What about the screen.. has it been cleaned?

    97 F250 7.3 Fuel delivery air??

selector valve can fail to where it is sending fuel back to the opposite tank...is your rear tank slowly filling with fuel? the fuel pump in the valley could also be bad, however they normally have a weep hole that leaks fuel when things get worn

    Need brighter reverse lights....

you could certainly do that, however with aux lights you can decide how many lumens you want and even angle the lights for better side vision

    Need brighter reverse lights....

Leave the OEM lights alone and splice in auxiliary LEDs to the existing reverse lighting circuit mounted to the bumper as bright as you want them.

    Ran out of fuel

big difference between a 91 IDI and a PSD in regards to priming the fuel system PSD in a SD has an electric fuel pump which will prime itself PSD in a OBS has a mechanical fuel pump which will take a lot of cranking to prime An IDI has a fuel injector pump, which in order to prime you need to...

    Slow crank after possible overheat

If you like 15w-40, you'll love 5w-40 during cold starts
  16. greenskeeper

    Slow crank after possible overheat

Yes it should at least flow oil from the injector spouts with the debris removed. You might as well do a shim kit while you have them apart if they are below spec.

    Slow crank after possible overheat

5w-40? 15w-40 is the standard oil and doesn't give easier cold weather starts compared to 5w-40

    Slow crank after possible overheat

sounds like all 8 are buzzing and at the same intensity, with the valve covers off they should sound louder in my opinion, but that could also be the audio quality of the camera. Also you should be able to count after the initial all at once buzz to each injector number. can you post a video of...

    Slow crank after possible overheat

Did you ever confirm oil coming from the injector spouts while cranking? Without oil there is no point in looking any further until that is corrected

    Slow crank after possible overheat

Even with that low compression (if accurate) you would still be seeing white smoke out the tailpipe while cranking if everything else is working correctly. head gasket failure is very rare on the 7.3PSD

    Slow crank after possible overheat

WTS light will come on for a split second if ambient temps are high, longer as ambient temp decreases although it has no direct correlation to how long the glow plugs are powered. IDM voltage should be 115 volts DC Here is a video I found of the oil spouts.. you can see the oil flowing at idle...

    Slow crank after possible overheat

Mechanical gauge shows you've got plenty of psi to fire the injectors...so.... If you have no oil coming from any of the injector spouts while cranking that would point in the direction of the electrical side of the injectors... IDM, etc. Can you run a buzz test with your scanner? No buzz...

    Slow crank after possible overheat

sorry for the delay, there should be oil coming from all of the injector spouts... no oil indicates the injector isn't firing... it isn't a lot of oil but should be easily visible dripping off the spout onto the head.
  24. greenskeeper

    Slow crank after possible overheat

since the valve covers are off, crank it over and look for oil coming from each injector spout. If there is oil flowing from all 8 injectors then you can eliminate the HPOP, IDM, and electrical side of the no start problem. Next, jump the large terminals on the glow plug relay for at least 15...
