Not connected in any way with this, I saw this on Craigslist. I have not seen very many of these and thought it was just plain COOL!!!! Seller has three one them for LOTS of $$$$
275hp Mercruiser marine 7.3 idi ( good reference for a turbo idi because it seems pretty high)
Appears to be...
Taken aparts lots of both, differences are on 4wd's is the d60 for f350, and all f350 have overload/helper spring above spring pack. everything else is the same.
NOTE: f250 camper special, trailer special, or Hd options also have the overloads. (50% if seen have them)
Everyone should upgrade...
Kinda off subject too! But found a 1977 Ford 9000 single axle, shorty with 5th wheel and pintle hitch for $2000, I know nothing about it and am trying to get stuff ready for the big weekend next week, so may not even look at it
NO rust, road ranger and two speed, 321,000 miles, 50% matched...
LIFTER ISSUE! I ran engine and loosened and tightened rockers till intake on no. 1 was the issue, (under filter) no bent nothing, lifter still strait in its bore, had slow oil flow up then noisey,i dug through all my rockers to find the best ones with least wear.
Its quieter now but still...
After 4 years since I swapped a 1994 idi turbo into my 1986 f250 4x4 that just sits I decided to fix the annoying lifter clatter on the passenger head. Interesting things I found!!!
HISTORY: swapped complete motor into truck, paid $250.00 complete with radiator, all new exhaust, new hoses fan...
OK I forgot about the e brake issue! So yes the Superduty 99+ axles are the way to go but are to costly and hard to find here, guess I will make do with drums, drilled/ slotted front rotors (maybe) I DONT like unit bearing either, ive changed TONS of them some with 60,000, they go without...
Ok So its been brought to my attention that I can buy new disc brake setups cheap! less than $200 for a rear dana 70! My garbage/hay truck that never gets used has a dana 70-18u with 4.10 and locker. They use common Gm rotors and calipers. My dana 70 is nice, low miles and I changed fluid and...
I pulled a 12,000lb 1970 motorhome powered by a low miles 390 up to this property about 8 years ago, it was a F350 camper special 4.46 gears c6, it overheated so many times it blew a head gasket, cause I had no place to keep pulling over. along with the A/C heater core nightmare!
Had new super...
I've done lots of 429 460 gassers over the years, towed lots with them, MPG sucked and EVENTUALLY all develop exhaust manifold or header issues from turning red hot. Yes they work but I have lots of IDI's now and tons of parts and Turbos for them.
I get 17mpg in my 1990 f350 srw cc zf5 4.10...
I can say as a owner of TWO 1978 Ford e250 Pathfinder 4x4 vans that they are great, forget the chevy!!! Mine are 5.8 and 7.5 gassers but a 6.9L diesel in one is outstanding. Think: 6.9 5 speed zf5!!!!!! My vans are rusty and retired for the most part till I source a good diesel body
My F350...
Oh yes all 6.9 get arp's! I just have a good 7.3 engine sitting on a frame now with no body, running and a few 6.9 ready for all the new parts i've stocked up on, but am lacking studs.
Thinking I better bail on a my Dealer Diesel 7.3 and go 6.9. (I have new NOS rings, bearings, gaskets, engine...
Well a person I know stopped by to chat with me and I told him my story, turns out he used to drive for the school district here way back when. Guess what he drove a IHC bus with a 6.9L NA idi and automatic. He said he pulled the same passes many times with that old bus for Athletic events and...
OH YES!!! I have been very interested in your cam for awhile, just havent had to tear into any of my 6.9's yet they all run great but now I think I will put a cam in this 7.3 DEALERS DIESEL engine while the body is off. (much easier) it ran fine and had BB codes already, I have lots of core...
I do not need a CDL in Wa. for air brakes for farm use within 150 air miles of farms, mine is 190 driving miles but only 113 air miles so CLOSE ENOUGH!!! Up to 40,000lbs
And no Cdl for under 26,000lb rating for air brakes and the best part!
No cdl for Rvs of any size, even converted ones, A...
Yes me and the wifey talked about it and we will invest later in a REAL big rig truck with air brakes. For now we will just make do and try to reduce loads, I see people pull these passes daily with 14,000 plus pound toy haulers and newer trucks. MAYBE I'm just getting old or just way to...
Maybe I'm just going to finish my build with an intercooler, 4.10 gears and sell all my Fords except one crew cab, that will put a good down payment on a F700, or International MDT crew cab 4x4, they are less than newer super dutys and are powered by real engines and real brakes, even the non...
Thanks all, yes I've been looking for good deals on F-duty 10 lugs for awhile now, there are a few 10 lug 4x4 version around here too. I'm waiting to find a good deal on one though.
I've found some IHC crew cab and regular cab 4x4 trucks from power companies too, I'm talking 40,000lb rated...
Make make my worries even worse I just noticed my daily driver F350 has a class V Draw-tite hitch on it only rated for 5000lbs weight carry and 8000 weight distributing! And to think I tried to use this truck first, with 9500lbs attached weight carry.
Reason this was noticed was I just went out...
What I shoulda said was I could use my high mileage 7.3 IDI turbo motor with a DMF, it has high miles and I've only had it for three years and rarely drive it, it was CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN when I got it, no leaks never had any, burns NO oil no smoke etc. Theres a BUT though, unknown if had sca...
Yes my luk SMF was from Autozone and has the springs in it, wound up with two of them after they screwed up and didnt send the flywheel the first time, then had a lost second kit so they told me to keep the first one as a token of there appreciation, this was all Autozone.com through the mail...
I have been keeping an eye open for the OEM ford intercoolers but pretty limited here, I live quite a ways from junkyards but do make a habit of checking them from time to time for 6.9's and related parts. My build is a bricknose and believe the intercooler space is more limited than OBS but I...
Thanks everyone, Guess I will continue on my build with my idi and F350 4x4 with additions of some better parts and making sure everything is up to par. A splitter isnt a option really for me in my current 4x4 chassis and driveline setup that I already spent money on.
Any recommendation for...
