    Uhaul truck?

Who said they came with 4.56 gears? I would have thought 4.10's myself...:dunno I say go for it! And if you want to get funky, you could swap out the duallys for singles like I did. Mine is a standard long wheeblase dually F350 chassis. It's got 11' from the back of the cab to the end of the...

    Engine Swap Questions

I agree, 460 is gonna pull faster than an N/A IDI, but you'll definetly be in single digits with the 460. IDI is gonna be slower, but more fuel efficient. Though the 460 won't have the durability to do it for 300k miles like an IDI. And the IDI may not be the fastest, but it will do it all...

The K&N is meant to be cleaned and re-used. I have a K&N with the X-Treme flow top on my '65 F350....it's definetly a big upgrade over the stock oil-bath air cleaner LOL The only horror stories I've seen are when they are run in dusty conditions without enough oil. I'm buying a K&N for my...

    IDI Bronco in utah

Assuming the 3,850 is the 44HD and the 4,600 is the 50? I think my buddy's truck with the Dana 50 front says 4,600 on the door jamb sticker.

    IDI Bronco in utah

Do you mean the Dana 44HD TTB? There were 3 TTB setups in the Fullsize trucks. Dana 44 TTB with 5 lug hubs, Dana 44HD with 8 lug hubs and 3" diameter lockouts, and the Dana 50 TTB with 8 lug hubs and 4" diameter lockouts. The Dana 50 TTB's run the same lockout hubs as a Dana 60, and share the...

    stock fuel pump question

To disable the glow plugs, pull the power supply wire off the Glow Plug relay. On my 85, it's the purple wire with the 90* boot that slips on one of the small studs of the relay. Yours is the new style system, it's different, but I think it uses the same relay itself...but your wire color...

Really? You mean putting a Dana 50 TTB knuckle onto a 44 TTB? The Bronco looks very nice, but a legal nightmare for sure!

Yep, rattle can is certainly cost-effective on an older rig ;Sweet Mine sports the ACE brand International Red and Gloss white. Wash it up good, bondo any low spots, sand the rough stuff, prime it, and spray bomb it. To go the two-tone paint on my truck, the initital paint was 2 cans of primer...

    Poor Mileage?

I finally got around to changing my engine oil last week. It had been since last June @ 104,140 miles. Last week I changed it @ 119k and some change. It burns a quart a week, I think the rings are toast. It was a farm truck in it's previous life. Since I keep adding oil, I figure it's too new to...

any alternatives for a 7.3 water separator base?

That picture is a 7.3 filter head, sounds like you have a 6.9 filter head. And no, the filters are not interchangable because the filter threads are different. As stated, the fuel heater on the 6.9's is that big bulge area of the hard line from the lift pump to the filter. I prefer the 6.9...

Girlfriend looking for an idi. What to do

As much as I love my IDI, my 65 F350 with 352 FE will run circles around my 85. The 85 is bone stock. 6.9/4 speed/3.55 gears The 65's only upgrade is a K&N filter, a HUGE upgrade over the original oil-bath air cleaner... 352 FE with 2 Bareel carb/wide ratio NP435/4.10 gears So when compared...

Girlfriend looking for an idi. What to do

For someone one a budget, an IDI doesn't fit the bill ANY better. My Dad and I are Weekend Wrenchers with a small budget. Not much for upgrades that's for sure. My 85 IDI is burning a quart a week, so I just keep topping it off when I remember. I forget to check a lot as there's a lot on my...

    2012 Rally location?

Well guys, I don't think the 65 is going to be ready for the 2011 Rally. Some other higher-priority things have popped up, and the 65 is the low man on the totem pole right now. However, I will still be attending! I'll be runnin' the '85 down!! So I'm wondering if there has been any talk about...

    SOMTHINGS WRONG!!!!

I would start by cleaning and making sure all your connections are clean....those suckers can cost you a pretty penny when you buy all new electrical parts only to find out the connection was corroded...I wouldn't know anything about that! :rotflmao
