I plan on sticking around. You guys have such a wealth of knowledge and experience it’s invaluable to me. Other than tractors, my truck is the only diesel our family has had, so it’s been a learning experience for me for sure but worth every minute of it.
Thank you for the compliment @Garbage_Mechan:) my peers think I’m weird because my hobbies are my truck and training horses, but it’s crazy to me how little most teens know about how to live a full life. I’ve been blessed with good parents and a solid upbringing. I am hoping that eventually I...
Ok guys, I just wanted to give you all an update on my transfer pump system. I just got my pump between the front and rear tanks rigged up and the system works excellent in the driveway. I have yet to see how it performs while I’m driving, but I am assuming it’ll work good. Thank you guys for...
Ok, this is a little off topic, but I have two more questions.
My first question is, if I put kerosene in my fuel as a anti-gelling additive, would it decrease the lubrication element of the diesel? I run Marvel mystery oil at every fill up, so I’m not sure that’s even a concern.
My second...
I’ll let you guys know how well it works after I get everything together. It’ll probably be a couple weeks till I can get it done though due to work and school. Thank you all for all your help!:)
Good point @Cubey. I’ll run the all the way down the filler into the tank to prevent air bubbles. And I’ll post a sketch of what’s in my head in just a few minutes for you @Selahdoor
And I just found another solution to transferring fuel!:) my truck has a “custom” 2inch high flow filler hose, and a section on the hose is metal, so I think I’m just going to pull the metal part, tap a fitting into it and then I’ll be bypassing the return line altogether. No return line or...
It is pretty great blessing to be able to live out here. And highway 4 is actually one of my all time favorites. My dad builds rock crawlers so we take them over 4 to the Deer Valley and Slickrock off-road trails.
It’s definitely worth the 60 miles, I’m on the California/Nevada border, and diesel is $2.65 in NV, and $4.45 in CA. And I do carry a 5 gal can with me all the time, only had to use it once though :Thumbs Up
Ok, perfect, I have everything already for doing that except the check valve and hose. I’ll pick those next week sometime. Thanks for the tips !:) I’ll let you know how it goes. I have a 60 mile commute to the community college I’m taking some classes at, and the nearest gas station with...
The pick up is in good condition, good to know RockAuto has them though, thanks:). I’m just curious if there is any reason it wouldn’t be wise to tee into the front tank return line where it exits the tank. It seems to me to be the simplest option for using the rear tank to feed fuel to the...
Originally I was planning on using the selector valve, but it doesn’t work, and the sending unit in the rear tank also doesn’t work. I’m on a tight budget right now and am just trying to get the rear tank usable. I will probably replace the selector and sending unit when money allows. But for...
Hey guys, I am trying to resolve yet another issue that the P.O. did before I got my truck. When I got my rig the mechanical diesel lift pump had been replaced by a inline electric pump mounted down on the frame just in front of the front fuel tank. Everything works as it should, only when the...
Thanks for the pointers. I just came in from working on it and saw your reply. I got the system working, it turned out the left and right blinker wires had been switched, the brake controller power wire was disconnected, and the supply wire to the 12v trailer charging pin in the plug had been...
Hey guys, I’m pretty new here on the forum, but I have a few questions I’m hoping to get some info on. I have a 94’ f-350 turbo 7.3 idi zf5 4x4 with 297,000 miles. I just finished doing a complete rebuild on the engine and now I’m addressing some wiring issues that came with the truck. I kinda...
Hey guys, I’m new to Oilburners, but I’m dealing with the same glow plug issue so I thought I’d chime in. I just finished a complete rebuild on my 94’ 7.3 idi about a month ago, and since putting the engine back in the truck 5-6 of the 8 glow plugs have failed. They were “motorcraft” plugs I got...
