Thanks black dawg You give me abit of hope. Any bits of advice is always welcome. Fueling system is removed so i can't run the truck. I have applied atf and penetating oil and am leaving it over night. May apply a little heat tomorrow. If I had to guess, it took about 40 to 50 foot pounds...

    Injector stuck in head

Hello I am pretty sure I know what I have to do to fix this, but thought I would run it by the more knowledgeable people on here. I was removing my injectors and 7 came out just fine. But one I could feel just brake loose, than as I tried to turn it farther started to tighten up. I tried...

    Injection pump rebuild

You are correct. I was bringing attention to this, for the people who want the ability to make bigger power gains. That this company does not do that. You also would not get the improved fueling curves that some of the rebuilders talk about even on their regular or stock size cc pumps

    Injection pump rebuild

Hello I am giving up. So far, only one of the US vendors I emailed has replied to me. Called the Purolator depot near me. I told them what I had, and they told me they will gladly help me fill in all the forms and ship it for me. Purolator also asked me if there was steel or aluminum...

    Injection pump rebuild

My personal philosophy as a Canadian has been was allways to buy Canadian first the United States second and anybody but China third. But if at the end of the year if I look at everthing i bought. I believe it would look more like China first united States second and Canada third.

    Injection pump rebuild

I need to do more research, but I believe the problem is, the cost of tariffs on my importing my pump into the states. This would be wether I mail, ups or drive it across. I could try to sneak it across your border but I would not want to risk it. The only thing I see working is to drive my...

    Injection pump rebuild

Hello an update I emailed a few of the rebuilders recognized by this site, about shipping to Canada. I have received one reply so far and here is a part of the reply "We have not shipped to Canada in months due to the Tariffs. We have no idea what to charge, and it changes all the time" I...

Need advice on battery cable replacement kit

Yes, back then to see if a car would run you would look down the carburetor and give the throttle a pump to see if you would get a shot of fuel. then pull the coil wire. Crank the engine and if you had spark the engine should start. So much easier back then

    Injection pump rebuild

Hey thanks but I am in central Canada. The closest border crossing is Port Huron Michigan about 3 hours from me and many many hours from Oregon. Last time I ordered a part from the U.S.A the courier company wanted brokerage fees and service fees ont top that and the total price was just getting...

    Injection pump rebuild

Hello I have pulled my injection pump from my 94 idit. To get it rebuilt. Pretty sure it is original. My thoughts are to use a local rebuilder as I do not want to deal with shipping from Canada to the U.S. and back again at this time. I called him and he told me he had not done one of these...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Finally got around to doing a compression test on my 94 idit. I did it on a cold engine, 40 -45 degrees in my shop, even though the ford manual called for the engine to be warm, because I had removed all the injection lines in prep to send my pump out for an overhaul. Seemed like a good time to...

Can You Surface IDI Cylinder Heads with Sandpaper?

Because the precups are, I believe, inconel, they may or may not, sand down at a different rate than cast iron. Inconel is a lot like 300 series stainless to machine. Meaning, it may be tougher to sand than cast iron. We had an auto machine shop bring us any IDI heads that they needed to be...

6.9 idi injector return cap leaks

I second this, if multiple caps have been tried and still leaking it may be the problem, some fine emery cloth, applied carefully!! Has saved a surface or two for me in the past. I am just starting to tear my truck apart for the winter again and have started reading posts again. I was hoping...

7.3 IDI Thicker Head Gasket Source other than Fel-Pro

The sleeve would have protruded above the block face at install. Looks like he went to far when he was machining it down to bring it flush to the face useing his boring bar.

    Crossmember ZF5 Help

The cross member i used was bolted to the side of the frame on one end and sat on the bottom lip of the frame at the other end . There were no Ford holes that matched up to this cross member in the location where I needed it. I had to clamp it in place and drill for all the holes. It looked...

    Crossmember ZF5 Help

F250 f350 pickup frames are the same but they do narrow as they go towards the motor, resulting in a slightly wider automatic cross member than a zf cross member. (At least that is what I found with the ones I had) I only had to shorten it somewhere about 1/4 to 1/2 inch to get it to not contact...

    Crossmember ZF5 Help

The cross member i used came from a 96 power stroke f250 It was an L shaped cross member. Not sure what it came from originally as the 96 had been converted from auto 2wd to zf5 4x4 before I acquired it I had to shorten it a little to get the L side to clamp flat to my frame and had to drill...

    ZF5 Swap

I did a e4od to zf5 swap this past winter. I do not know if you have the correct cross member but I had an issue with drive shaft angles when I made do with a trany cross member that was the incorrect one. Here is my thread from back then ...

    '89 F350 Trans Cooler Install

I have one of the smaller tools from these guys. Have had it for years and find it works great on smaller lines. Not as quick as a regular clamp but I don't have to drive into town to find a clamp when I need one. Haven't had a leaky joint yet. https://clamptitetools.com/

    Coffee can

I always thought if I had to make up a new canister, I would make one up from an empty small camping propane bottle. Fittings are readily available that could be modified to attach to a vacuum line

    Coffee can

On my trucks 1984 without cruise and 1994 with cruise and parts trucks 1983 without cruise and 1990 with cruise , the coffee can is only on the trucks with vacuum operated cruse control (1990). The 1994 has electronic cruise control and does not have it.

So what did you do with your truck today?

This is a great site. I respect opposing views. You can always learn from them. There are good reasons when your business is restoring cars to keep it original. Negative bullying statements have never made sense to me.

    Rear main seal question

Of course, spray welding the seal area was our preferred method of repair but this ment disassembling the equipment which was not always feasible.

    Rear main seal question

Just to clarify. The sleeve is used to repair a shaft or journal with out changing to a specialized seal. it was designed to change the diameter of the journal as little as possible. and still work with an original seal These sleeves can and do wear out. So if there is a definite groove...
