Tool needed to remove fuel line from bottom of I/P

The solution for the bottom two lines: remove the other 6 first. If you have them out of the way, the bottom two are easy with just a wrench. Seems hard, but it really isn't that big a deal, especially if you are swapping a pump already.

    IP timing

Unless you deleted the CDR, it's probably from that. Lots of oil vapors come through the crank case vent.

    7.3 idi / C6. To 7.3 PS / 4R100 swap

A couple of things. First off, if you are doing the same work, you are going to need similar amounts of fuel. What I see is that the powerstroke might be a little more effecient at light load(or that may just be gear ratios), but under heavy load, well, you need fuel if you are going to use that...

    Head bolt block thread

I'll just point out that I've just installed my studs 'wrong' and not had any issue - just used a small 3/16" bit on my 1/4 drive dewalt impact driver at about half trigger until she stops. That generally got all the bolts to within 1/8" or so of each other, plenty far down in there. I won't...

Valve seal recommendation // 94 7.3 idi turbo

I'm just going to point out that I ran a newly-rebuilt turbo engine setup for several thousand miles with *no* valve stem seals whatsoever... with no noticable oil usage. Oil usage is either leakage, or mostly passed the rings - remember, on a turbo motor, intake and exhaust are under positive...

this 'stat wont get hot enough

I've had it get cold enough that after driving down the highway and getting up to 180F, I stop at a stoplight and watch the temps drop... Only on the coldest days of the year. I just add a piece of cardboard for the coldest months. Or, you can go for the 'winter front' or 'bra', which my truck...

Turned my IP up 2 flats..

IMHO, it's not really critical that you go '2 flats only' or any precise number - it's just a reference. EGTs and smoke are what you watch; dial back or forward to taste.

Common reasons oil pressure go up?

Oil pressure gauge on a 7.3 is a switch. On is like ~10 psi. Over that you get "normal" - any variation is simply due to voltage and temperature of the components. 6.9s do have an actual oil pressure sender, but it's not terribly accurate, and can go off when things are OK. At hot idle, 10 psi...

Where can I get this replacement filter

Hey, if it works to keep oil out of the CDR, it's not a bad idea. Usually all of these trucks just end up with oil in the intake and through the turbo. It gets burned, though, with no issues.

Bricknose vs OBS master cylinder differences

Got a cost-saving question here - Looking at swapping out the MC+slave on a Bricknose truck. On Rockauto, they have one kit for $120. This guy However, I have more choices for an OBS, including one set for $74. Now, from what I know, the slave is going to be the same, the hose might be a...

    Hydraulic E4OD/4R100 troubleshooting.

If that were the case(and I'm not saying that won't be a problem), it should still go into gear, right? Just no lockup, like a C6.

    Hydraulic E4OD/4R100 troubleshooting.

I've got an unknown trans I'm playing with and trying to make work. It's become a challenge: I picked this trans up for $100 off Craigslist; it had been pulled for unknown reasons and sat outside under a tarp for years. The solenoid pack was missing, so some water got inside(was milky-red...

    What gauges would you install?

They also make these with a digital readout for exact voltage instead. I personally just use a multimeter to 'calibrate' the factory gauge(figure out where 13.5+V is, and where 12 or less is), and call it good.

    Double cardan delete?

So... With the cardan joint totally melted, I figured I didn't have much to lose. I tried to press the old U-joints out, and just plain couldn't - not enough clearance. Torch time! Hard to be tight when you are molten! Obviously toast - the only part I melted off is the U-joint. The other end...

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

So... Finished the oil cooler rebuild+reinstall last night. Didn't leak a drop! Took her to work today... Left home with just under 1/4 tank. 10 miles later, I was at 1/8 tank. Pulling into work parking lot, fuel low light went on. Decided to take her across the road to the grocery store for...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Yup. I will point out that this motor had been recently rebuilt(<10K miles), had valve clearance issues, and the rod snapped in the middle. Both ends of the broken rod were completely intact and rode on their bearings freely. So, I'm chocking it up to improper building and stress due to piston...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

I'm still going to disagree with using thinner oil. These motors were designed for 30W straight oil, OR 15W40 when at lower temps. Thinner oils have a reduced film strength as well. (oh, and based on research I've seen, the best 5w40 synthetic has less film strength(by a little) than the worst...

    IDI OIL PRESSURE TO START

Honestly, don't worry about it. 15W40 oil, change it every 3K or so(very dirty engine), and the engine's not going to wear out the bearings any time soon. I'm not convinced at all about "dry starts" ever since I took apart an engine that threw a rod... 18 months later. I found the rod...

    Stroked 6.9

Studded 7.3 IDI, 88 or 89 model year block I think. And, I misremembered my numbers. Was 20HP lower on both IDI and PSD(281 and 283) for corrected rear wheel HP. Sorry. Graph: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1444437-robs-project-tan-truck-8.html#post18840312 It's really weird feeling with...

    Stroked 6.9

I got it up to 281RWHP recently! That's with S360, 110 IP, R&D cam(which I honestly think hurt my power more than made more - very little down low and it makes less boost than it did with stock) and stage 1 injectors. (The same day, my friend with his 500k mile 97 Cali PSD and *just* a tuner...

    7.3 and Archoil 9100

As I just found out with my 2000, it might be worth looking at shimming the injectors. It's actually a cheap and easy process, and went from "No start when not plugged in below 70+F" to "Fires right up cleanly at 40". And I can totally see that every PSD injector will need these shims eventually.

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

Problem solved! (I hope for good) Finished shimming, go to start, and... However... Now the oil cooler is leaking, and pretty badly. Time to deal with that.

    Hard/no start when sitting/cold - 2000 F250 7.3

The dying while running thing... that's only happened once... when I had my cheap OBD2 adapter plugged in, and new PIDs(which didn't work, BTW) set up. I haven't plugged in the OBD2 adapter... and haven't had any more issues like that. I need to try again, though, or I can't check ICP pressure...

    Where did that go?

Note that if you've got a new water pump on there(compared to an original, factory one), the bosses are lengthened so that all the (shorter) bolts are the same length, vs the middle four being even shorter.

    Banks Sidewinder Crossover Pipe Flange??

Might check with Justin @ R&D IDI Performance - He made me a Banks crossover from scratch when it broke on me on a trip(I was literally within a half hour's drive of him for a week or so). So, I know he has/can get the ends.
