Definitely looking forward to not being at 3200 rpms going 70 mph just to barely keep up with traffic. Anywhere I go is at least 25 minutes on the highway so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy the truck a bit better now
Pulled the trans out this evening
I’m not seeing a flexplate spacer on the end of the crank??? There was an 1/8” thick ring between the flexplate bolts and the flexplate itself, is that the spacer everybody speaks of? Unless I’m just not seeing the joint between the spacer and the end of...
My thoughts exactly. That’s what forums are for, anyway. No wonder people are discouraged from trying “difficult” projects when they’re met with responses like that in a place that’s supposed to be helpful.
There’s a lot that goes into swapping a trans, and this is my first diesel :dunno Just...
Just got started last night on pulling the c6 out of my truck. This may be a dumb question, but what do I do with the vacuum lines going from the injection pump to the trans? Can I just cap them off at the pump, or would I need to remove the VRV?
Wonderful. I’ll just return em and get the ones off ebay. Seems weird to me that none of the places that sell those flat straps say they need to be bent :dunno
I’m really confused here…
My 87 f250 6.9 single cab long bed didn’t have the front tank in it when I bought it. Somebody had taken it out to run the exhaust right there. I finally decided to get all the parts to add a (19 gal) front tank back in, but I don’t see how these straps (second...
I've been working on putting together a parts list for my trans swap. Putting a zf5 s5-42 from a 94 7.3 into my 87 6.9 which currently has a C6. Just want to double check some of the parts before I get everything ordered.

General consensus seems...
Yep, that's it. Might still end up using my original transfer case since I know it works. Would that transfer case have been swapped onto that trans at some point then? The trans was built in January of 94, so it was the last year of the S5-42 which should have had a BW1356 case on it as far as...
The guy I bought it from had it in his 97 350, but the trans was built in 94 so it was swapped into there at some point, but that would make sense that it was originally from a 350. Although the driveshafts I got with it just have standard U-joints, not cardan joints
I think what I’ll do is swap transfer cases so that I can keep my speedometer and cruise control (if I can get it working lol) from what I’m seeing my 1345 will bolt right up to the zf5 in place of the 1356?
I just picked up a ZF5 last night for my 87 f250 6.9. It currently has a C6 which shifts very harsh and it is not great on the highway, which is where my truck is most of the time. I've browsed the forums and gotten most of the answers I was looking for, but I have a few unanswered questions...
I’m trying to get cruise working on my truck (87 f250 6.9 c6) and it very obviously needs a vacuum canister… looks like somebody tried to fix the rust with duct tape. I ordered a new canister on eBay and I guess I didn’t look closely enough, but it’s smaller than my original canister and the...
