Hi there,

I have a '93 F250 XLT 7.3 IDI with the sliding glass back window that whistles/howls when it's closed going down the highway and it's driving me nuts. Yeah I could just crank up the tunes and avoid it, but sometimes it's nice to hear that IDI rumble :)

I'm wondering if for my truck with the sliding rear window, is there a separate smaller gasket I can replace in the bottom of the track, or will I have to buy & replace the entire window weatherstripping/gasket to get rid of this issue? It does not look difficult to replace, just trying to avoid throwing another $50-70ish away.

Thanks!

Replacing the perimeter gasket will not solve the problem. I think you're hearing air leakage between the stationary portion of the window and those two little sliding pieces of glass. If you don't routinely use it (open & close), I'd lock it closed and use black duct tape at the joints. Sounds crude however the tape would be virtually invisible and solve the issue.

That sounds about right, didn't think it was necessarily the main window gasket itself anyway. I rarely use it; will lube up the tracks and do as you suggest to see if it cuts the wind leakage out, thanks!
