    Apologies... Coolant flush + Questions

Welcome to the Forum by the way. We will need someone to chime in that has some insight in this. I had not heard that before, I would be surprised as it is just measuring a level like ph, electrolysis or any other similar test. But I was wrong once before...or twice.

Rear diff gurus, what is this?

That is a differential that has had water in it. My used unit was a little like that only the water and oil were not mixed as it had sat for years and just filled up as the truck had no box on it and the cover had a bad silicon seal at the top edge. Your clutch pack looks like it should from...

    Apologies... Coolant flush + Questions

I personally would get a test strip from your auto parts store and test what you have. It may be fine. The test strip will show the SCA level as well as the protection level of the coolant/anti freeze.

    "Gauge Garage Sale" Buyer Beware

I felt others should know what I found out. In no way was it meant to discredit the post. I came up with 12 different P/N's I was going to purchase. Not all of them stated 24 Volts DC, some did some didn't. The mechanical temp gauges are all good but they only have a 4 foot capillary, that...

    New transmission time

Haven't heard a word about the pilot bearing, I would assume this was new with the clutch change and then inspected on the new tranny install. Not likely even if it was missing would you have that kind of noise on or off clutch but figured I would throw it out there

Rockauto Main Battery Cable vs making your own

Another option might be a tractor/implement shop if there are any in the area. I used to help out a friend with a tractor shop and we made all the cables in any size wire needed with any length and lugs.

    "Gauge Garage Sale" Buyer Beware

Sounds like it worked out well for you. The sales associate I have been working with didn't have a clue unless I asked. She was ready to write it up and ship it. When I did find that none of the electric gauges came with senders she offered to find out if they had any that would work. It is...

    "Gauge Garage Sale" Buyer Beware

Just a heads up for ya' - Before Christmas there was a post concerning ISSPRO having a big clearance sale. I am a gauge guy and figured I would buy some and then sell a few off. I came up with about 15 different P/N's they had in stock and then did my homework. Everyone has a story, 4 foot...

    Embarrassing jumpstart mistake...need help

Well said by Franklin - always always stand back as far as you can reach and look away. Was on scene for a battery blow up years ago - blew parts of the case, lugs and caps 30 yards away. I happened to be looking away and only got clothing and skin with acid and some additional hearing loss...

Crank how long before batteries die

Most parts stores with a decent load testing system will be able to narrow it down to batteries or starter. When lead acid batteries reach 32 deg. F they lose half of their power. The other thing to consider is that a starter that is failing or one with bad brushes or commutator can draw...

    Bad Brake Booster???

x2 on the new one way bleeder screws..... can't say enough about how easy they are for a one man brake bleed.

    Bad Brake Booster???

Sounds like a bad booster. When my vacuum pump wasn't keeping up do to a broken bracket and loose belt I had a similar hard pedal. It was erratic between hard and mushy but mostly a hard pedal. I got the bracket replaced, had full vacuum then had a functional but mushy pedal. Replaced M/C...

    6.9 - C6 - Flexplate - Ring Gear - aaarrrrrggghhhh

That's all good info. I would invest in the starter first for obvious reasons. I guess it's possible the nose depth or spline cut or diameter could be just enough to provide better engagement. A chance I will be willing to take.

    6.9 - C6 - Flexplate - Ring Gear - aaarrrrrggghhhh

So after 5 months of running my truck I got the dreaded starter grind, twice in about 6 starts today. I can't remember the last time it was ever the starter drive that was wore down so I'll figure ring gear as the most likely culprit. My initial search turned up nothing on the chain websites...
