Didn't get a chance to tinker the truck tonight. BUT I question how big of a job it is to change the front seal if that is indeed what failed. I was pulling it in OD, but I pushed the OD off when I was going uphill. I only kept it on when I was on a flat during cruise speed (55-60). 6.9 and Early 7.3L Injection Pump interchangeability??
If you are changing the pump with the engine installed, DO NOT remove the cover. Instead, carefully remove the pump, and maybe even put long bolts in the front cover that you remove to extract the pump gear screws, to lock the gear in place. This issue fixed itself. Actually, I think that it turned out to be dirty fuel. I had the water in fuel light pop on a few times, and after I managed to drain all of the water out of it, it ran like a top!- taber45

I agree. Do not replace the piston just yet, if its not too late. The pistons take alot, and I doubt if it is cracked or broken by the sound of it. Just buy a new valve and valvetrain and put it all back together. If you are thinking about getting rid of it, just get it going. Undoubtedly...- taber45

Oil leak at valve cover
My 94 250 7.3 non turbo has a moderate leak on the RH valve cover gasket. I would like to change it. Any tips on changing it or where to order the parts from for a reasonable price?- taber45

The good news is that I have cured the idle issue. I think it was dirty fuel. i got the water in fuel light on the way to work today, and after i finished draining all of the water out, and got to work the problem was solved. Happy day!- taber45

So the injector pump has the check valve, not the fuel filter assembly? Is that standard or just for your application? I'm sure I can check it, but wonder if anyone has any additional input.- taber45

Jet Fuel and Amsoil???
What about switching to amsoil in an engine with high miles such as mine (190000) I am worried about breaking up the soot, etc. that may be built up in wierd places and plugging the filter. Should I flush the engine first with an engine flush treatment, and fresh (cheap) oil for a few minutes...- taber45
