Just a guy getting by. I do all my own repairs/upgrades. I much prefer riding my shovelhead but do appreciate a good truck. I have a 1986 Ford F250 4x4 6.9 IDI, 4 spd. That had been left in the hills to rot for over 10 years. After spending days cleaning the rat crap and fortresses out of every part of it, and showing it some respect and love...it is alive and well. I recently bought a 1988 F Superduty (F450) 7.3 IDI, 5 speed ZF5 trans dually. It sports a TEAC contractor's bed. It has 275000 or so miles. I haven't even driven this truck and I love it. It is stout. I bought it with the trans stuck in second gear...after removing the shifter and top plate from the trans I found it full of gear oil. It calls for Synthetic ATF. The truck is almost 200 miles away....I am hoping I can coax it out of second gear after changing the lubrication from the wrong crap to the correct stuff.
I'm a happily married 53 year old white male from Northern California. My poor decision making skills put me in stupid situations far more often than I am comfortable with. My guardian angel is very overworked and certainly deserves a raise and a good vacation.
My wife and I are both mechanics. This is really cool...until it is not.
