I have a book I read through some time ago. "Chilton's Diesel Guide by James Joseph" Copyright 1980. Not sure if you can find it online. The information is on page 91. There is a lot of outdated info in the book I noticed but it still has some good stuff in there.

you'll need a timing light with an advance dial. I have a digital light and it reads the rpm along side the advance numbers. A digital light makes it very nice, if your budget allows pick one up, you won't regret it.

I have seen them on ebay from time to time. Stealership charges 40+ bucks for one. Mine is out so I have mine unplugged. Unless it's really cold I don't see the need in it, looks to me that it will burn more fuel anyway.
