Warden, thanks a lot for taking the time to type all that up......very useful, and I've already copied it to my MB 'notes' file.....and emailed it to my buddy too.... ;Sweet ps; I too would be very interested in a listing of physical dimensions and weights for each...

HELP: Mack Midliner 8.8L, to pull Injector, must I drain Coolant first?

Has anyone here done any fuel-system work on the 8.8L Renault/RVI engine in the Mack Midliner? I have a misfiring cylinder (ID'd via cracking lines loose one by one), and I want to pull the injector and see what's up....and I'm wondering whether this engine requires the coolant to be drained...

whatever.... price isn't germane to the question. I asked about bearing play and visual checks. seemed like reasonable questions to me. thanks for the info on the springs/retainers

    DMF needed; Towcat? Anyone else?

picky ?? :backoff dude, at ANY price, why in hell would I want to put a BAD flywheel in ?? I already HAVE a bad one in there! :rotflmao and for my case, it ain't a clean and simple job to swap it here at the mine. I've got to lay in the rocks and mud all freakin' day to do the...

    DMF needed; Towcat? Anyone else?

Brady kindly shipped me the DMF 'on inspection', and I have a couple questions for you DMF experts... 1) the rotational free-play feels like it's hitting something hard at the end of the travel....it doesn't feel like it's bumping against springs. Is that simply because the springs are so...

    Water/**** injection

yah, I know that a lot of the injectors on gassers will seize if you try to run water through them. But with an emulsion, there is an intimate mix of water and fuel, with about 70% fuel....so there is still lubrication. I would imagine that different pumps/injectors have different levels of...

    Water/**** injection

you guys.... :rofl 'course, it's just a sad reflection of how the constant propaganda-media drumbeat has everyone scared of everything all the time. Makes 'em cry out for 'security'....the powers-that-be love that... Mark, all of the "shur-flo" type pumps I've seen are "positive...

    Water/**** injection

Of course, water in the cylinder can interfere with piston lubrication; depending on the engine and conditions......and humid air by itself promotes more complete combustion, due to the OH free-radicals acting as catalysts. So there's something to be said for the mist/fully-evaporated setups...

    Water/**** injection

Mark, fyi, the normal 'demand' pump cycles on and off to meet a -pressure- specification, not a flow spec. Nozzles: the "flow" rating for a nozzle or injector is always spec'ed at a specific pressure. I.e. 1 gph AT 50psi, or whatever. The flow from a nozzle will increase as the square...

    Vibration at 60-65mph; also U-joint oddity...ideas??

Dalvaras, mine were the perfect diameter....just that the cross was about .040 too wide. It -would- go in, but then the U-joint was very tight, wouldn't turn on that axis. Rancherman, thanks for the thought. I hadn't thought about rims....I guess because the vibe seems to be at the higher...
