    Donaldson DBL7405 oil filter on a 7.3idi

I remote mounted one on my truck, I also have a bypass filter. Up to 17qt capacity overall and oil was still really good at 8000 miles when I sent a sample to blackstone. I've still been changing it every 5k miles, but it certainly helps keep the oil cleaner looking so can't hurt the engine...

Help narrowing down cause of the tapping noise..

This is what mine sounded like laying under it for reference.

Help narrowing down cause of the tapping noise..

Could be something smacking ever so slightly into inspection plate area on trans. When I put my new clutch and flywheel on my 7.3, the new stuff ever so slightly kissed the inspection plate. Yet only under torque. Coasting didn't hit it, but when the engine was under load it must have pushed...

    1987 E-350 W/ 6.9 Deisel / C6 3spd auto

For the noise and engine speed part, I can't hear in any IDI I've ever rode in. I've had a zf5 with 3.55s and a 6.9 c6 with 4.10s, either way talking to others or listening to the radio is pretty much impossible. You need sound deadening foam bs in the firewall and floorboards under the carpet...

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

I had an old 300 straight 6 with 350k miles, when the clutch exploded I decided it was best to just part it out. There's pics on here somewhere. I found 2 places in the frame where the previous owner had bondo'd the frame rails and stuck little sheets of plate steel in so it could pass the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Took the kiddo to the local theme park today, AC blew cold the whole way. I re-did the AC recently so that made me happy. Some really nice hills to drive on and downshift on, this engine got re-built by an old timer at only 80k miles after the guy got worried driving it a few miles after a...

    Interesting Oil Leak

I've had a drip here and there from the old 7.3, I was initially expecting it to be valve cover on the passenger side or possibly oil pan seeping. Turns out, I don't know what it is. First this random bolt isnt in if you look between the alternator and water pump. I had the entire front of this...

    Mechanical Water Temp Gauge Failure

I've had a mechanical water temp gauge in my IDI for going on a decade now. I put it in the overtemp port, I drove the truck yesterday morning and it only read 120. I wondered if my thermostat stuck open, I couldn't check my heat because I have two three way ball valves installed to isolate the...

30 degree cold start (opinions wanted)

It's not much at all. 120-150 rpms I'd guess. You can make it as much as you want by extending the solenoid on the side of the pump. All it does is shoot out when the throttle isn't resting on it, it doesn't have the strength to push the throttle. When I still had my winter "beater" idi, I jb...

30 degree cold start (opinions wanted)

For what it's worth, I don't think any of us actually floor the things when we're cold starting them. I'm more of a 1/4 or 1/3 throttle person. I'm not sure how many PSI of oil it will take to blow the seals in my oil cooler or shoot off my oil filter gasket, but I'm not really interested in...

30 degree cold start (opinions wanted)

Definitely way too slow cranking speed. Idle noise sounds good me they are always loud if it's cold out and the timing is good. Might be idling a bit slow too.

Took some life away from my starter today

I got annoyed with one of my idi starters when it got stuck on I couldn't get the battery cables off and rather than melting things for some reason I just stuck the truck in 4th gear, let the clutch out, and held the brakes and broke it. I'm not sure why I did that to this day. It did work though.

Was looking for pics to show the hid in projector beam out across a field below my garage and finally found it. Low: High:

    New age headlights

Leds in the factory housings are generally bad. Light doesn't reflect where it needs to go since the diodes aren't in the same spot as the filaments on a halogen. It will look brighter until you are driving and realize your lighting up everything and the light isn't focused where you look when...
