    Forward facing car seat

I just did this to get it tight so I could shove my arm inside the hole in the seat and tighten the belt without sitting on the seat myself. That might have done the trick. My belt latch lock things the belt clips into pull up so high it meets right at the hole in the seat which makes it hard to...

    Forward facing car seat

I've never been as irritated in all my workings on these trucks as I am today trying to install a forward facing car seat in my 1990 crew cab. Our infant seat had a belt clamp so we put the seat in the middle in the back, yanked the lap belt and clamped it with the belt lock and life was good...

    Block Serial ID

It's never gonna be for sure now unless he blows this one up but the oil port by the filter housing is 1/4 and has a goofy reducer to 1/8th for a plug. Guessing they didn't have a 1/4 plug that day. Was also setup to have a turbo drain. These are stout enough for a factory turbo either way and...

    Block Serial ID

I didn't look at the oil sending unit but by the oil filter it's 1/4 not 1/8 which I thought meant turbo but that serial on the block has me so confused. Doesn't look like any I've found on searches online. My 7.3 non turbo is different and so was my 6.9, they look like yours.

    Block Serial ID

A buddy is looking at a replacement engine on fb near us, his truck is a turbo but that engine is cooked. Newer rebuilt turbo. We found a guy with this block but it doesn't have a turbo. Claims the turbo was bad so he got the engine and just tossed it in a n/a truck. I was looking at serial...

    Overdrive

Only E4OD I have is on a gasser, but mine always shifts into OD immediately if the RPM's are high enough. It actually feels like a grenade button if you are going up a hill at 55, with the OD off, and press the button again to allow it to use OD it will shove itself into OD, realize that was a...

    Squealing rear drums

First time I had it apart yes, second time I didn't bother. It is always a little dusty when I take it apart, maybe the friction material is wearing too quickly. I'm just trying to avoid getting new drums. I don't want to get new shoes and internal parts if the noise is coming from the drum...

    Squealing rear drums

Anyone ever had their rear drums squeak when braking no matter what you try? E brake isn't on, drums don't look glazed or burnt, no deep scratches or anything. Shoes have plenty of life left. Brake cleaned everything, adjusted them for a little drag and drove the truck. Fine for a few hundred...

School me on 2wd Front Brakes

I didn't, the weird threads were on the studs that were in my old rotors, I may have worded that poorly. I only pounded one old stud out to take the place of the one new one I ruined. I bought 16 new 9/16-18 lug nuts, their 7/8 head not 1-1/16 but same diameter at the concave part holding the...

School me on 2wd Front Brakes

They didn't match, I'm not sure what thread were in my old rotors for sure, I think M14 would be closest metric. I went to the parts store and brought a new stud and a 9/16-18 threaded right on perfectly, I just got 16 of those pounded out the stud I ruined and put one old stud and one old lug...

School me on 2wd Front Brakes

Tonight might finally be the night I have an absolute mental collapse, and it's been a long time coming. Brake job went great, bearings were easy, actually enjoyed working on something again for a bit. Now the lug nuts on my truck aren't the same thread as the rotor / hub I got on rock auto. I...

School me on 2wd Front Brakes

I've somehow never had to do front brakes / rotors / bearings on a 2wd F-series anything, just wasn't sure if there was anything crazy I'm going to run into here. I found some youtube videos of people going through this, but never on on an 87-91, and never on a single rear wheel vehicle. I've...

    Tightening up Steering

So I broke the locking nut free, my center stud has a flat head screwdriver slot, I held it all at 12 o'clock and tightened it to 4 ish and everything feels tighter now. I locked it down there and turned the wheel with the truck running just sitting in the garage, I don't feel any binding and if...

    Tightening up Steering

Anyone ever break the big nut loose on the steering box and turn the threaded part in a half a turn and lock it back down? My 90 f350 [2wd] is going to need new tires and I figured I'd get it aligned as the outer edge or the passenger tire is wearing more than the rest up front. I then noticed I...

    Bucking on Deceleration

Rear pinion engagement maybe? Something with driveshaft and carrier bearing that doesn't like if the back of the truck lifts up some on deceleration vs being pushed down on acceleration? I'm just guessing here, that's odd for sure.

    Power window fiasco

So this makes no sense but I've given up on finding the root of the problem for now. In my 92, the window doesn't go up from the passenger side only the drivers side. I tried a new switch but that did nothing, and verified the switch worked. It's almost like the window can only ground the signal...

    Floor mats

I think I'm gonna give those a try, someone had a review with photos and they look like they fit better than anything else I've found.

    Floor mats

Anyone have any weather tech or "fitted" style floor mats that fit and conform to the front seats on brick nose or obs trucks? All the generic ones are bad in all the wrong places. Don't cover areas you want or too thick near the gas petal etc.

    New AC issue

Low pressure port on drier could have failed. Evaporator frosts over after its on for a bit and it stops pushing the air to you. Turn ac to "vent" to force it to shut off for a minute or two every 5 minutes and see if it works better or worse. Better and that switch on drier needs replaced...

    AC Experts, Weird Issue

It was idling at that point. I'm not going to promise the fan clutch is working properly but I believe it is and I also have a big electric helper fan on half the condenser. Previous truck had it on the trans cooler and I just moved it over to this truck to turn on from a relay when the ac is...

    AC Experts, Weird Issue

Yeah, I guess if I have issues again I should in theory see it there since the screen on the old tube wasn't broken. I almost wonder if some of the goop didn't come out when I pulled the old tube out and I effectively shoved it under the new orifice tube and it took some time to work it's way...

    AC Experts, Weird Issue

So this is actually in my 90 F150 with a straight six but it's the same components short of the compressor being a different type of mount so I'm asking here anyways as it should be the same if this was on an IDI. My one truck (Fred in sig) sits all winter, it was my grandpas truck and I won't...

    AC replacement

If you do get it stuck and your ready to replace the whole evaporator unit, blow compressed air in the other end of the evaporator and slowly heat the pipe its in with a propane torch evenly, I've had 2 get stuck and got both out this way though it's definitely a last resort.

    Tired Steering

Well I took it off and cleaned it out as best as I could. Seems like something had disintegrated inside, there was small black almost O ring looking pieces floating around. I cleaned it all out, put new fluid in it, and it actually is somewhat better. I'm not going to say it's 100% better but it...

    Tired Steering

The big truck seems to have some tired steering going on these days. (1990 F350 Quad Cab / 2wd). I know the belt isn't slipping, nothing is leaking, but the symptoms don't line up with anything I've dealt with before. It's fine if the truck is moving at anything more than like 1 mile an hour...
