    Serpentine belt IDI mystery noises

I have a similar noise that just started. I think I've narrowed it down to my vacuum pump. I've yet to replace it, but you might want to check yours.

    Fan clutch modification

Here is the mod in a nutshell: Quote:Remove the RTV glob from the slot - pull the angled section of the bi-metal strip outta the slot, gently straighten the angle, bending to conform to the rest of the coil, leaving a very small lip that will fit in the slot - re-RTV the stip (strip tip) in...

    Fan clutch modification

Has anyone modified their fan clutch? I found this post on another site and don't see why it wouldn't work on ours- http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?12265-DIY-Fan-Clutch-mod. I know there used to be a company that sold a clutch that would kick on at a lower temperature but they...

New Champion Radiator- Does not seem to be cooling as well as the stock?

TWeatherford- I have the three core. Have to say I was impressed with the initial quality. We'll see how it holds up. As for the Final Charge, everything I have read said it is ok to use with the older engines. My engine was rebuilt in 2001 and at that time all the gaskets were replaced. The...

New Champion Radiator- Does not seem to be cooling as well as the stock?

Thanks for the info. I've considered an oil cooler for some time. Might just do it now. The way I figure it is since I don't have a new truck payment, if I drop $500 every now and then on an upgrade I'm money ahead. I had a nice new 06 cummins awhile back and although I at times miss the truck...

New Champion Radiator- Does not seem to be cooling as well as the stock?

The reason for the swap was when I hit 235 (and climbing) I was pulling a travel trailer that grossed out at around 5k pounds on a long grade. Wasn't too steep, around 3 1/2-4%, but I didn't like it because there was no where to pull over. Luckily I made it to the top before I hit 240. I had my...

New Champion Radiator- Does not seem to be cooling as well as the stock?

I installed a new Champion Aluminum radiator as I was looking to achieve maximum cooling while towing. I have a mechanical Autometer temp gauge in the overtemp port and with the stock radiator I would see about 195-205 while driving empty. When towing I would see 215-235 while towing heavy...

Parking Brake Cable Replacement- And maybe a cure for your weak parking brake.

Cable was $12.99 from the local parts place. Can be had for around $7 from Rock auto but I didn't have time to wait for shipping.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement- And maybe a cure for your weak parking brake.

After 21 years my front parking brake cable snapped. This is the cable that runs from the pedal to the intermediate cable. It snapped in the area where it leaves the firewall. Learned something interesting while replacing it and thought I would pass it along. First and foremost if you're...

Considering taking requests for Pictutorials or suggestions.

Kinda off topic but figured this was the perfect place to post it; I love this site. This thread is exactly why. For no other reason than to help us other members, somebody is going out of their way. I don't post a lot, I ask a few questions here and there, but I "lurk" a bunch. Because of this...

    Injection pump wrench

Thanks for all the replies. I just changed my pump out and made do with a normal wrench. I bent one using mapp gas but it wasn't right. The amount of time it was taking I realized it was quicker to fumble through it with a regular wrench. Now that I got a pic I will try re-bending it when I...

    Injection pump wrench

Anyone have a picture of the specialty wrench used for loosening the three nuts to adjust the pump timing?

About to install rebuilt u-haul injection pump....

I believe this is a turbo pump. It has the "torque screw" which I believe was the only difference between a turbo and non turbo pump. I could be wrong though. I believe the torque screw is what adjusts the fueling curve.
