1993 F-350 Turn signals

Good morning. This is my first post on the forums, so i may or may not have it right (for the record most of the time I can find what I need on this site, without having to post anything).

I have a 1992 F350 7.3idi - turbo (ATS), and the turn signals quit working this morning.

I have checked all the lights and they are come on solid. I have checked the emergency flashers, and they work fine.

I have read where my truck may have two flasher units - True or not true?

I am thinking that I need to replace the multi-function switch on the steering collum?

Welcome!

I think only one flasher unit (for turn signals); probably the multi-function switch. Cheap and easy fix. Remember you have an F-series so sourcing one for an F150 (or googling problems) is not specific to the F350.

Google "F150 multi..." instantly pops up with some good Amazon sources.

You will have to confirm the flasher thing. They changed it year to year. I do know my 89 does have two flashers. One over near the fuse box on the driver's side is for the turnsignals, the hazard flasher is located above the kickpanel beside the glovebox.

P.S. I was able to look up a 1992 f350, it does have two separate flashers.

Yep the 92 has 2 flashers

Update: took a moment at lunch today and found the flasher that is in the fuse block on the lower left side of the steering wheel.
I pulled the unit out and it sounds like a rattle and the turn signal lights went out, I fired up the emergency flashers and they still worked.
Popped into the local car parts store and dropped $7 and picked up a heavy duty unit and installed it.
Low and behold the turn signals work!

Iirc, after some such year (maybe in the early 80's) it was federally mandated to have the hazards on a separate circuit and flasher.
Just for future reference, the hazard flasher is on the back side of the fuse panel.

Interesting! Medium and heavy duties must be different because I know our 96 Kodiak has it on the same circuit

Maybe so. My 78 Dodge 1 ton van never had a catalytic converter. I thought it was mandatory by then. However, it didn’t say “unleaded fuel only” so clearly it never had it. Maybe because it left the Dodge factory as a cutaway, completed as an RV by Xplorer.

That's only true on the earlier models for the locations. I know my 89 is like I mentioned before, the turn flasher is over in the fuse box area, the hazard is over top of the pass side kickpanel clipped to the dash.

The later superduty trucks have a electronic flasher assembly stock, and it operates both the turns and the hazards.

What year SD? 99-03 (maybe up to and including 07) have both mounted behind the radio.
I think 08 is when it became integrated into the "smart junction box." Which you are correct, only one.
Leave it to ford to do stupid electrical engineering.
