So every two months or so I have to replace my serpentine belt because it starts squeaking, it just started squeaking again today and it's driving me crazy. I have a new tensioner and all new accessories, so nothing is dragging or slipping, I've tried pulling pulleys off and cleaning them as well as cleaning and degreasing belts that start to squeak with no luck -cuss

Any ideas?

Threw on a new belt already so I'll try the belt dressing when I get a chance, seems like the old belt stretched, anyone had this happen?

I feel like mine is stretching too, what belt are you using? First day I had it on there no squeaking at all.

I've had good luck with belt dressing. Also google some homemade belt dressings. Other than that if it's stretching a whole lot the tensioner might be putting too much tension?

Take a squirt bottle of water with the engine running and spray only the ribs of the actual belt. If the squeak goes away it's either the belt itself or an idler tension issue. If the squeak still there it's probably a pulley bearing or pulley misalignment.

Hopefully that will get you going in the right direction

I've looked at it while running and it's slipping on the idler and tensioner. They are both plastic pulleys so that's where it starts to slip first. I've compared the old belt and the new and it's obvious that the issue is the belt is stretching, not wearing out. Dunno what I can do about that

I would try a gates or ford belt. Some have said the gates didnt work for them, but every time I've had a belt issue like that a swap to gates fixed it for me

I use gates and it seems to be stretched too... Same as the old one that popped off after letting off the fuel when leaving a parking lot.

I'm somewhat curious if you guys are getting the right belts. There are different lengths and the parts counter guys aren't the Best with our engines.

I also wonder what brand your tensioners are

tensioner is NAPA Steel one

Gates belt - K061110, when i first put on belt it was amazing, no squeak whatsoever, i actually heard the motor shut down... That lasted for a day.
