no, the CDR attaches to the back of the intake horn, and then theres a tube to the valley pan gasket.
this will tell you if you have coolant leaking on the inside.

So I was trying to get the CDR out but it won't come out does the tube going to the valley pan come out with it?

If your checking for possible headgasket leak that might cause milky oil, just pop off the oil fill cap or pull dipstick.

The CDR valve has a replacement schedule. By the appearance of yours I'd say its well past replacement time. These valves have a diaphragm inside. If our idi engine begins to eat its own oil from the crankcase for fuel these valves suck closed and stops the flow of oil mist. A runaway engine has no governor for rpm. Its revs till it explodes usually. Utube has several runaway engine vids and some are funny as hell.

When I said to check the exhaust for antifreeze, I meant that if you can smell any in the exhaust, you're burning it for some reason. Either a cracked head or a pinhole from cavitation. The difference between cooling system pressure and the cylinder pressure, even in a gas engine, make it so that combustion gasses from the cylinder will go into the cooling system instead of antifreeze going into the cylinder. You will have extreme pressure in your cooling system in a hurry. When this happens, you will not have enough antifreeze left in the engine to have the pressure to force it into the cylinder when the engine's not running. I just had this happen on with the 302 in my 81 F150 last fall. I was driving down the interstate and had the top radiator hose blow before I could shut it down. It happens fast.

This is from the passenger side looking up right next to the lift pump and you can see coolant and it's running down the side of the block. I resealed the thermostat so I'm sure it's not leaking I'm thinking it's the heads? Maybe something else?
