Need quick advice on 7.3 IDI purchase

Hey guys, completely new to the diesel world and looking to buy a truck. My question is, at $5,000 am I paying too much?

It's a 1990 F250 single cab auto 4x4, has a 7.3 with an ATS turbo kit and has 170k on the clock. It has a d60 solid axle swap and 8" lift

The truck has passed all the basic tests, has had routine maintenance. Runs and drives well, body is about a 7/10. Am I better off buying a cheaper truck and building it myself?

Since it has had the D60 swapped in, already turbo'd, and fair miles, that doesn't seem too bad. As far as routine maintenance goes, does that include coolant SCAs? And with a big lift comes big expensive tires, so how's the condition of those?

Tires are decent, and he says coolant has been changed and additive added properly. But, I have no proof just his word.
No air bubbles in coolant or any signs of liquid stains under the hood. Rears seem fine, lift seems properly done

IMO 5 k too much...35-3700 but thats cause it is a single cab and auto....

If was std and ex cab maybe worth more....

But eh...I am cheap ole bast#×=

honestly i did some research on comparative prices and thats why im 2nd guessing the purchase. The seller really does seem like a stand up guy so i believe him on the maintenance and all, but im starting to think 5k is a stretch.

Whatever happened to the front end is something you need to inquire about and will definitely drop that asking price significantly

i actually did, he said the PO did it and there is no damage beyond the headlight bracket and bumper bracket being a little tweaked. and of course the fender and hood damage.

If the fender, hood, bumper were all in good shape and match the condition of the rest of the truck 5K would seem more reasonable. I'm with the other guys I'd probably be in the 3500-4K range. Now your in NJ and I'm guessing that truck is really rust free. Hell it's really rust free for Iowa also.

The turbo and dana 60 are worth 2K if you ask me.

I would say no, aftermarket turbo install scares me as does the front end & lift. If it was done well, then sure it's all good, but how do you know? I'd rather buy a cheaper truck and do the add ons myself. But that's me, I have a fully equipped, heated shop & time to turn my own wrenches.

as a damaged single cab, i would pass,
and if thats an 8" lift, you may want to buy a bag of whatever the owner is smoking.
