Couldn't help you with your belt squeak (mine's a 2/92, right before they went to serps), but feel free to hit me with late van questions.... I've learned way too much the hard way!

Yeah, upgrading stuff on these is great. With a new generation of Ford vans out there, I expect the yards will be full of gasser Es in no time. Junked IDI vans will be rare finds, though.

Pardon me now, though, I have a leaky lift pump to change.....

Thanks for the good word IDI ECONOLINE. I guess lift pump is in my future also,i hope not to soon .Looking at what you have done to your van over time all i can say this must be love.All of my friends think, something snapped in my head that i drive this old stinky school bus like not nice minivan like i did before.Well i just tell them its love.I am in Michigan , the salt on the road is a real killer for econolines,so I am going to park my van in november just before snow and salt till march when all this stuff is gone.This will extend the live of my van.And yes IDI van are rare ,i must be the only one in the state of Mich. never seen one in the junk yards.

Coolcool, dieselvan. Mine was lucky enough to be California-from-new, though she's certainly played in the snow some. I have some gutter rust to treat out, plus some surface stuff where some previous owner boiled-over a battery. Frame has a nice dusting of surface rust also, but, in salt-free (and nearly rain-free) Cali, I'm not too worried.

Yeah, I get the strange looks from people.... and love every second of it!

I got rid of my mechanical pump and went with electric recently. Lets you prime everything in the fuel system without spinning the starter. Much easier on everything.

I have never seen another IDI van in person. I've seen more ferrari enzo's in person (2) than i've seen a ford IDI van. Pretty crazy.

Every time someone tells me to go to a junk yard for something I just kind of laugh.
