I always wanted to put a 1.6VW diesel into an 80's Chrysler product and since the original front wheel drive Chryslers used the 1.7 VW setup, they would be the perfect candidate with very little modifications. In fact, when Chrysler invented the 2.2 liter motor, I think they copied a lot of the VW engine, so it would drop in and replace the 1.7.

If you check youtube, that creepy dude from Davidsfarm put a VW diesel into a couple Dodge Caravans.

In AZ I just have to pass a load (40 mph I believe) opacity test. Can't recall my results this year. I'll post up when I drive it next, I'll check my cert. to see what I got.

Our shops let us drive RWD vehicles ourselves if we want, but not front wheel drives.

my very own hell
we have cable throttles. that is an easy fix. put a straw in the red plastic area of the throttle cable limiting the full travel of the pedal :D
Rear limit screw on the IP throttle lever, turn it in :D Count turns so you don't back it out too far when all is said and done. No straws to possibly fall off at the most unfavorable moment of the ordeal. Combine with turning the internal fuel screw out if needed, and if that don't make her pass only an act of God will LOL

replacing the return lines and some mechanic in a can (howes) did the trick for me. Was over a year time frame though, didn't rush to the last minute
