Thanks everyone, i will check out that gear box, i didnt realize the diesel rx were garbage, guess if they do swell up i will just pull the motor down anyway and go through it. Yea, some current benz models still use pneumatic systems for interior actuating components, (door locks, active seat and head restraints etc, alot more reliable these days), you just cant kill the old mb diesels, weve got a few loyal customers with older cars, have a 76 240d in the shop and a 89 300sd i believe right now.

That's what I want to do to my 300 is transplant a 4 speed manual into it. That thing is very quite peppy without the ALDA (a.k.a. boost limiter) on it, but alas it messes with the auto trans too much because you aren't pressing the trottle hard enough and it shifts WAY too early. (And the bowden Cable is already adjusted as far out as it will go, and is still shifts finiky. I believe I need a valve body rebuild)

before the oil change you may want to clean up and change out o rings in oil cooler.
