I quit getting that mag a couple years ago. When 2/3 of the pages are nothing but ads and the stories are the same everymonth it gets old fast.
Not to say I wont pick one up and look through it when I get the chance, I just wont ever subscribe to it again.

I have all the DP issues except for the first two

They cover a LOT of material I could care less about but thats the way it goes I guess. They have to please the largest crowd and I think they do a good job at that... Something I would like to see is coverage of the turbo diesel Arctic Trucks on a trip to the North/South pole or Iceland in the freezing cold. A trip though the Amazon jungle in a diesel 70 series cruiser to some ancient ruins? Why not? Trip to Alaska in that Diesel Chevette they were fixing up? It would even perk my interest to see them cover a grain harvest in the midwest--something different!


Anyway I'm getting DP mixed up with Overland Journal here but I think there is a lot more potential than just who can make the most horsepower in the latest pickup

I was going to mention Diesel World. Jim made the Rally this year and he has done an article on our little (compaired to TS or Scheid's) event for that magazine. Plus Jim is a IDI guy and posts here all the time.

I have to agree as well, I canceled my subscription to dp as well because i am sick of reading about putting a cummins into this and a cummins into that, i would love for an older diesel magazine to come out on the market, i would buy a lifetime subscription!!! I do however still keep up with dp's project 300 and project rust bucket, i much prefer the older diesels than the newer, they actually sound like a real truck!

One of the reasons I drive the diesels that I do is because they are not popular and people don't know much about them. The ford diesels I have owned don't fall into this category but the Toyotas, Izuzus, Nissans, mercedes, Volvos, Macks and the like, certainly do. Its neat to drive something that turns heads and draws questions from people, things that are bone stock may be rusty or whatever; but just plain RARE!! and when you encounter another eccentric individual driving one of them, it always leads to EXCELLENT conversation. This kinda stuff would never make magazines simply because there isn't much info on them quite frankly. It takes time and patience to get to learn some of them, that is something I find to be neat.
