I wish some one would put together an Oil burner rally a little closer to my area ... you guys are doing it in the Eastern states and another group is doing it in the western states but I haven't seen anyone doing it more centraly ... I could travel 3-4 hundred miles but 1600 is a litle hard to swallow ..

Host one!

That sounds like fun, don't know if I'll have the truck ready or not. Its been a bad summer with projects for family and other pressing needs. But the truck is next on my list so if this weather ever changes. I've still got fuel lines to run and an electric pump to install. Not much overall just a time thing.

Jim

Hey Jim, It would be cool if you could make it, Even for a day, Looks like you are 3 hours away. Keep us posted on how the truck is coming.

Darrin, can we bring firewood across state lines? Someone told me there would be a big fine if i did and got caught.....

Thanks to Ron for posting the response, We will make sure we have enough firewood, Leave it up to the Michiganders to bring it, no prob!

On another note ...

You see this type of post a lot. For My Fall Get Together, it will always be here in MI at East Lake Campground, It is just a get together for anyone that can come. For the Official 4th of July IDI Rally it will be Central, and NE area. It has been for 11 years and it seems to be the best way to get the most people to the rally just because of the central location, and the most concentrated members within a days drive.

What is usually said, If you build it, people will come, So feel free to host one, set a date and a location, put it out there and you may be surprised at the response you will get.

So here is what I am working on,

LKQ is a Pick and Pull that is just south of my lot, and about a 15 min drive from the Campground. Well one year they just put in a slant nose IDI Diesel in the yard and we were able to go pull a bunch of parts off of it.

Well this year they have a F450 Brick nose flat bed that they have been driving. I am making arrangements that they will be putting it in the lot on the day before our Rally. So it will be a fresh complete truck that we can pull parts off, Can you say Hydroboost :sly(I need the pedals), This will be a complete running driving truck, I will check on it more in the next couple of days to check if it is an auto or stick, and condition of everyghint else, But it Runs and drives,

So if anyone coming to the Rally needs parts (usually cheap!) we can make a trip up there with our tools and grab whatever you need,...

Let the Bone Yard Games Begin! I think if we do this, I am so going to bring a tripod and time lapse this as it happens... could be an interesting video :D I just envision nothing more than a stray tireless wheel, and bit of frame left sitting.

Just got back fro LKQ Pick and Pull, talking with the manager James about the F450 Flat bed:

This truck runs and drives, They have been using it themselves, It is a Bricknnose XLT Diesel 5sp Flatbed, COMPLETE TRUCK.

Here are a few pics:

Since it is a Stick I cant use the pedals, so that will go with the Hydroboost System. Only thing I "Need" is the Overflow bottle and Windshield Washer Bottle with brackets, so I can convert Droopy to a IDI Dual Battery System I allready have the Battery Tray.

So James is keeping the truck out of the yard untill Friday the 21st so we can go Sat Morning and pick whatever we need off a Fresh Complete Truck that runs and drives.

There is also an 89 F250 7.3 4x4 reg cab c6 truck in the yard that is pretty complete right niow, as well as quite a few OBS f150's

So if you need any parts, bring your tools, some junk yard clothes, and pull whatever you want to pull. Prices are usually very fair. I will probably buy whatever we pull, and you can pay me, as I get a discount through my account if that works for everyone.
