Fuel filter light?

How does this warning light work? I.e what sets it off? Mine is flickering yet again after fuel filter #2 in the past 7 days!
I'm starting to think there is more to it than a clogged filter.

it senses vacuum in the line. like when the fuel pressure drops below 0 psi and your injection pump is actaully pulling fuel itself.

Thats exactly how it works. Now trying to figure out the whys is the tuff job. Alge in the filter or tank. A bad lift pump. Can't be much more... Maybe a bad wire connection...

what have you tried to to fix it? i would try a fuel filter if that didnt what replace the fuel pump

I noticed from your screen name that you are running waste motor oil - has it been fully filtered before you dumped it in you tank. The reason I say this is that I used to run alt fuels and if I didn't get them fully filtered it would plug a filter pretty quick.

Yes and no. I tossed in my oil from my last oil change un filtered. Bad idea maybe. Since then I've put 1200 miles on the truck and 2 fuel filters. Filter 3 seems to be needed now
The light only flickers at idle. Starting to wonder if a weak fuel pump is contributing.

i think that the filter is starting to clog up. but if you wont you could stink a new pump on as a preventive maint.

I'm beginning to think it's Lift Pump related. This morning when I went to start it, it took forever to even try and catch. Saturday morning when I replaced the fuel filter and was using the bleed valve to pull the air out after replacing the filter I noticed that the fuel coming out was dribbling out vs. squirting out like it should. (this is with a brand new fuel filter on it)

Sounds like a good time to put on a Carrier Pump. Does anyone know if those pumps are hermetically (sp?) sealed? I was thinking about mounting one along the frame rail, and putting my 3 filter setup on the frame rail next to it. And ditch the crappy fuel filter/sperator system thats in the engine box.

the carrier pump doesnt like more than a 50% wmo and they are made to suck not push. some put them on the frame. i put mine under the hood

I"m thinking WMO ran thru a centrifuge and mixed with Kerosene so the viscocity is same as Diesel, that Carrier pump wont know the difference between Diesel and WMO
