Thanks a lot! Didn't get much done on it this weekend. Other stuff going on keep me from doing much. I did fab a bracket to mount the coolant filter to the passenger's fender and I did get that all plumbed up. The front bumper is back on, as are the shock towers and shocks. Not much else though. The bells and whistles/detail work is all that is left, but that stuff can take a while to get done to my liking. The wiring especially.Heath The truck looks awesome!

Thanks Gary. I hope it will give me many more years/miles down the road. I will be driving it to PA for the Rally. If you make it, you can have a good look at the finished product for yourself. We all missed you guys last summer.

I attacked the wiring this weekend and boy-o-boy, what a mess. I'm going to basically just pull a lot of the old stuff out and start over. Some of the accessories have three different color and gauge wire running to them.
. That process is going to take up even more time than I want, but I'll have everything the way I want it and feel comfortable with trouble shooting things in the future. (Sarcasm)---->What fun I'll have rewiring all this crap.

Heath what about a painless wiring harness? I don't even know if they make one but I would think that would be the best bet in the long run

Actually, that is one of the things I'm pulling out. A Painless fuse block, wiring, and relay were used to wire up the stereo, the US Gear underdrive controller, and some other add on's. The factory wiring/harness is fine. It's the accessory stuff that's such a mess. I'll just need to start wiring those things all over. The Painless stuff is such a mess, that it will go into the trash. I'll likely just save the fuses for spares.

I think this was done before Rob got it. The painless stuff would have been fine, but the way it is being used is a mess and at this point, there is not much to save. I'll just pull that out and get some new fuse blocks, several rolls of different colored wiring and start wiring things back up again, and adding some things (gauges, relays, toggles, and the e-pump).
Thanks biggin! I always wanted a slant nose crew cab 4x4 SRW F350. Rob (69oiler) needed to sell his and I've seen it at the Rally in '08 and knew what a cherry truck it was. It was no secret I was wanting one and he gave me a call. I flew on a red eye flight to cleveland and he picked me up. I drove it home the next day. I suspected a bad headgasket, and I was going to add the turbo on there, so the project just took off from there.

Heath, maybe I missed it in a previous thread. What gear ratio is in those axles that you are keeping the gear vendors? And is that original paint on the truck, or has it been repainted somewhere along the line

Both axles are 3.55. It is not a gear Vendors, but a US Gear underdrive.
I'm pretty sure it was painted at some point in the past. The usual aluminium trim between the two colors is gone and the little mounts have been ground off smooth. There is striping on there now between the two tone. The diesel and XL badges are off the fenders as well.

I think I was the 3rd owner..I think it was the original owner who installed the US Gear. As far as I know the second owner put in the stereo, and before I picked it up, he removed an under hood welding rig that was powered by a second alternator, and an amplifier for the sound system. He had a truck camper on the back of it and took it boondocking out in CA. Not sure who butched up the wiring...
All I did to it when I had it was put tires on it, install a trailer brake controller (actually paid to have that done, and my trailer guy mentioned there was some funky wiring going on) and throw a used C6 trans in it. I just drove it how I got it.

Got it all sorted out now. I will hook up the trailer brake controller again, once Missy and I find a camper we like. The truck is now back on the road, but I will post up some photos this week if I get the time.Heath
