F800 battery problem has me stumped

Ah I'm a doofus. It has a lift gate and that's what that cable is for. Duh...

Well I cleaned all the connections and cleaned everything up and still no better than before. I give up, I'm gonna have to get someone in here to fix it. Everything else looks good, I just can't figure it out.

Don't overlook the starter just cause its new. New does not mean good

YES on the starter.

You stated that it recently had the solenoid replaced, then you stated that the starter was brand-new.

The solenoid that got replaced, was it the starter-RELAY solenoid that is up on the inside-fender, or the actual solenoid that is INSIDE the starter ??


It is always best to buy new brushes, solenoid, and extra-wide contacts and re-furbish the starter yourself, than to trust some parts-house rebuild.

I'm just going by what the guy who usually fixes the truck for us says...he does big rig repair, and he told me he replaced the starter.

It's a cable IMHO - have you tried hook a jumper cable directly to the starter?...Feel and work the cables looking for swelled or hard spots....If you can't find any then ask your women to show you how to do it properly........Sounds like a cable to me - new starter and good batteries - what is left - CABLES. ....I deal with this **** all day every day - easy to find corrosion or resistance - hot connections are poor connections.

Well...it wouldn't surprise me if it is a bad cable. But, the cables are hard to get at with the truck sitting on the ground and I have no way to lift it...I figure I'll let somebody else take care of it. Hoping that guy will come down and check it out.

You won't learn a thing if you let someone else fix it.

I guess for guys in the truck trade it's another day at the office fighting to reach cables and wiring....I curse more working on cars than I do heavy trucks....

I work on just about everything being employed with DOT so I've become acustomed to poison working situations while trying to complete a simple task.

Well as it turns out it was an issue with the ground, where the cable connected to the transmission.

I had attempted to remove that end of that cable to clean it up but it was in a very difficult position to get a socket on it, and then when I did it was so tight I couldn't get enough leverage on it!

Well, I was close to getting it...but at any rate the truck is fixed now.
