Apart from the 4x4 and maybe the lift, you could easily do all the other work yourself, and have it customized to your specific desires.

Instead of the pop-up roof, I'd just get a fiberglas hitop from a junkyard. Much less work and no leaks.

I found a very similar early 90's E350 4X4 for sale on craigslist about a month ago I posted on here. Not as tricked-out as the one you've found, but nice.
They are very cool. ;Sweet

BTW, if I had $20K to burn, I'd put it towards buying this -Drool :D

I gotta ask, why do you need a Boeing 707?

"Need" and "want" are two different words ;) my first love has always been aviation, and one of my pipe dreams is to restore a 707 to 1960's Pan Am standards and make an airworthy museum piece...it'll never happen, but I can dream, right? LOL

Well,

If you keep it a dream, you'll save yourself from financial ruin and years of frustration, even if you did win the lottery.;Sweet

The only money pit bigger than an airplane, is a gold-diggin ex-wife.-cuss

Stick with 1/144 scale models. LOTS cheaper, and MUCH easier to complete.

I helped get the last PanAm 727s ready for ferry flights to the boneyards. The once mighty fleet had been reduced to complete piles of crap. I wouldn't have called them "Airworthy" by any stretch of the imagination. The last one may, or may not, have departed with one engine at idle.

That's crazy! I saw your thread title and I thought hmm 20K... Ford IDI forum... hmmm I'd buy a sportmobile. Then I clicked on the link  and what do you know?!

My wife and I are seriously considering selling the crew cab and 4 Wheel Camper to put money down on a SMB. If I could end up with one with the 7.3 I wouldn't complain ever again

I need to figure out the way I can transfer the pictures from my daughter's digital camera to this "antique" iMac I have for computer so you guys can see that I'm half way turning my cargo/custom '86 E-350 into a combination of a workshop on wheels during the week and a cruiser/camper in the weekends. That's the reason it was named "The Enterprise" by my daughter. You can walk inside, from behind the front seats to the back, there is 6 feet clearance from the ceiling to the floor. I still need to work in the wood work partitions with the bed, the toilet installation with fan exhaust, the water system and the solar panels.
I'm calling Apple now to see if they can help me.
Burt.

A friend has one of those minus the 4x4 part, add a diesel and 4 wheel drive to his and it's the perfect go anywhere camper! That package and pop up roof are put together very nicely, fit and finish is up there with Westfalia VW campers, but you've got a little room to stretch out.

A couple of them flew again: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_American_Airways_(1998-2004)

It was weird seeing them in the air, I used to live in NH. I never flew on them but a few of my friends said the service was exceptional but the equipment was all worn out crap, like flying in a dented tin can. It's to bad they could not make a go of it as the airport, retired AFB sort of, they still flew NG refuelers out of there, they have a huge runway. It was a perfect location for a regional/seasonal airport. Oh well!
