Figured up MPG

Ok I dont think this is very accurate.

Before I chanced Injectors I was getting 8-9 MPG

I filled op yesterday and ran 35.8 on interstate and the rest of the 78.4 miles were on state roads.

Here is what I figured


Home to Norwood was 35.8
Norwood to Home was 26.6

Home to Uncles was 3.5
Uncles to Cousins was 4.5
Cousins back to uncles was 4.5

Then from uncles to back home was 3.5

That totaled up being 78.4 miles.

At home I filled the truck up with exactly 5 gallons

I divided the 78.4 by 5 and got 15.68 MPG. I really doubt im getting that good mileage. Should I keep keeping track of mileage and average it all out.

Well I think actually it might be a flaw now because I am slowly introducing Bio diesel into my truck.

Also take this into consideration
1985 F-250 with a 6.9
Stock size tires
3.55 Dana rear end
Nothing in bed of truck
IP turned up 2 Flats
Homemade Air intake
NEW injectors

Thats actually about right. Probably even could do a little better than that.

Yah man, that seems about right. Those 3.55s are a big help on the freeway, I can get up to 20mpg out of my truck but I gotta drive like a grandpa at 55 mph, which I actually kinda enjoy.

Save your figures over a longer period of time to get a more accurate idea but what you're seeing should be about right. I've seen the old 6.9's put up some amazing numbers.

My 86' 6.9 with a 4 speed and 4:10 gears always averaged 16 mpg.

15 sounds about right, if not on the low side. If you were getting 8 mpg before, something was seriously wrong with your truck, or you drive really fast(Like i'm one to talk, the gas pedal in my truck sees the floor more often than not).

Yeah thats about what I get when driving real hard (plus I had my hubs locked in I found out the other night, which would explain why my milage has been down)

For those who want to track fuel mileage this site is free and kind of fun www.fuelfrog.com all you have to do is type in miles since your last fillup, the amount of fuel you added and the price you paid for the fuel. My truck is an X-cab ATS turbo and T18, I've been averaging 13.7 but I've done as well as 16 and as poorly as 12 since I did the swap to a manual. Almost all urban and suburban driving though.

I just did 800 miles with Truck 2 in Signature. 15.5 mpg. RPMs averaged 2100 at about 60mph.

I've gotten 16-18mpg with the bed full of demo'd masonry - when it was N/A. Empty I'd get close to 20.

Pulling the 16' trailer through Montana & Wyoming mountain passes loaded to the gills (~4tons) I was getting 11-12mpg.

I'm going to start keeping better tabs on mileage.

I had a 94 IDI F250 last year . It was a standard cab 2WD automatic with 4.10 gears. I averaged 19-20 MPG as a commuter, and got as high as 23 on a long trip driving like a grandpa.

My current truck a 1995 ext cab 2WD auto F250 with a powerstroke has been abou tthe same with 3.55's
