Yea, it's kinda funny that the rendering company's are in business to do so, charging a restaurant for the service.
Now the garbage/recycling company wants in on the free $$$.

The couple of shops I've gotten oil from say that "they" used to pay you to take oil, now you pay "them"......I really don't know. There's a "diesel mechanic shop" not far from me that calls me when they pump gas out of diesel trucks, ya know, like when they let their wife borrow the truck or the new employee etc. And that guy says it would cost a small fortune to have a company come get it.......im happy to take it.....my lawnmowers, ATVs, and whatever else eat it just fine and I thin my WMO with it.....got over 100gal right now....FREEEEEE!!!!!

The reason "diesel mechanic shop" is in quotes is because I see over 50 trucks there every time i drive by there with hoods up, parts around, trucks with cabs off, etc.....it always looks that way....are they fixing them? Collecting them? Storing them? Taking them apart because its interesting? I don't know.....

There is a recycler near me for used motor oil and cooking grease, what they pay/charge depends on the current crude oil price per barrel, not sure why. If it's up they pay, down they charge. I think the price point was ~$75? Only reason I know is that we burn our wmo in a furnace here at the shop, and other shops call and offer it up to us when the recycler is charging.

I've got part of an old biodiesel plant that would work there ..... petrol/ diesel mix would run through the heater which should boil the petrol out of the diesel - straight diesel then and if you captured the petrol fraction from the boiler, you'd have straight petrol too.

I'm still running my power stroke on 100% waste transformer oil - winter or summer, she still fires straight up and actually gets better mileage on the oil than diesel ..... more low down torque according to the seat of the pants meter.

That's mineral oil if I recall?
That sounds like an easy cleanup.
The cali eco freaks literally have a recycle your junk on every block arond here.
Besides the abrasion issues (waste motor oil) and time involved in the refining, seems like a good idea...
