Wish me luck. o_O

Bought the blue 89. But it will be 12-14 days before I go back to collect it.

Gonna do the Arkansas plan, I guess. Drop off the RV and bug, and fly back to get it. My mom will babysit Lucy. That way if i have more to fix than expected, I will have more time to deal with it.

I'll have to double check fitment, but odds are the Bilsteins on the front of the RV since 2020 should fit it. Expensive stuff like that is gonna get swapped.

Virginia... in the brambles
the earlier ones suffered front seal leak when fluid is hot.
yep...then a better front seal became available...

If I had one...(E4OD)...I would do every upgrade that I could on it...including some fixes that are not generally known...there was a problem at the center support-to-case area...if you overtightened a hollow bolt, it would create a leak at the valve body gasket...the aftermarket finally came out with a fix for it...not a factory authorized fix...plus other stuff...

I would just go from A to Z on it and fix everything...too much trouble to take it out and fix it twice...

But that is just me...

In time. I'll do the more obvious general stuff first like hoses, belts, fluids.

The alternator looked pretty new, but tiny. So I might want upgrade it eventually. Although, I don't really put a lot of extra load on the alternator.

Probably needs a new air filter ASAP, probably the original k&n that came with the turbo kit. Anybody have a part number for the Banks van kit filter? It's mounted way up front on a special bracket. Maybe Banks themselves could tell me?

They probably could since they still sell parts for the first gen turbos for trucks. I'm sure that they could at least give you a part number if not sell you a filter.

Maybe. Would be nice to know. I didn't think to see if it had a sticker. It has one in the pic above.

Making pretty good time on my way to Arkansas. I should be there by Wednesday early afternoon if I keep up the pace. Almost out of the mountains, so that's gonna speed things up.

Of course, things couldn't go smoothly. Right rears suddenly bald and one blew out. i have a spare and roadside coming but it's Sunday and Walmart doesn't have the tire size. so I'll be sitting at Walmart overnight until tomorrow morning to go to Big O Tire or a local shop in search of a tire.

19 miles to go on the bald tire too.

Made it to a rest area 12 miles on, after the spare was put on. I might just sit here until tomorrow morning, since it's impossible to get a tire of any close size until tomorrow. Only Walmart is open on Sunday and they have nothing.

7 miles more to town but I can take a little county road to town from the rest area since it's off of an exit.

The joys of traveling.

Walmart had a single LT225/75R16 for $80 and nobody else in town had anything else close, new or used, so i bought it.

Worst Walmart auto center.
- won't touch anything dually
- can't inflate higher than 60psi

I had to basically buy a tire with zero warranty because they would mount the tire on the rim and balance but they won't touch a dually vehicle of any kind. So it's considered a carry-in, no warranty and i had to change the tires around myself in the parking lot. And add 5psi more myself.

Odd tire is on the front right, moved the old right front to right rear outer in place of the bald tire. $100 with tax and all. was gonna be a 2 more day delay and around $160 for an LT215/85R16 at Big O, so it's good enough. It's very close in size and I can't tell any difference driving.

Made it to Dumas TX at the free RV park. Only electric hookup but has a single dump station with a water fill spigot so it's fine, i can get a good shower tonight before a long haul tomorrow of hopefully around 250 miles. That's long in an IDI motorhome.

Rolled on in to Arkansas this evening without anymore issues. Well the radiator was dripping way more, so i grabbed a $2.50 gallon jug of distilled water to mix more 50/50 since I had a new jug of full strength, and added some to the bottle. Was low on oil too at the same time so it got a bit over 1qt added from leftover from the recent oil change. That was at just 95 miles left to go. So i can't fuss too much.

Any suggestions on stuff I should take along in case I need it?

I think I will grab the lifetime warranty vacuum pump from the RV and take it along, as well as my pulley puller tool kit. Maybe a small metric socket set that works for changing the vac pump too, unless I just go buy another one at HFT once I'm there.

Temp gun? Anything to road side repair the power steering drip? Or just keep it full and resort to manual steering if you have a failure...?

OD on/off button? That would be of high priority for me.
