In a few days I am going to tow a 94 IDI na bus that's been sitting. I was planning to bring a starter and 2 new batteries and a can of fuel. They think they burned starter out trying to start it last time. It was not parked due to break down, just wasn't needed. I think it has been sitting 4 years?

It would be a lot easier if it could be driven onto trailer as opposed to trying to winch it up. There's no room there.

Anything else I should bring or prepare for? 5/8 wrench to bleed air. Fuel filter?

It is going to be sitting again for a while immediately after being moved, but maybe I can make life easier on "whoever" is working on it eventually.

I will not comment on where this vehicle is going next ;burnoutmay god have mercy on my soul.

Also is this emoji boobs!? -Showtits ahahaha

it won't hurt to bring a spare fuel filter, and if you have good size battery charger/jump starter it would be a good idea to leave that hooked up while bleeding the lines. If the bus is nearby a power outlet, you can bring along an extension cord, or possibly a small portable generator if you have one. I am assuming this is an E series mini bus and not an international? The internationals have 2 fuel filters, that's why I am bringing that up.

I would DEFINITELY bring a fuel filter. The last truck I tried to resurrect was futile.... Until I realized there was a HOLE in the fuel filter o_O

Bleeding air at the injectors wouldn't be a bad idea either!

One of those little inline electric fuel pumps would be a good way to eliminate worries about the existing mechanical pump, plus the "pushed" fuel will immediately show you where the leaks are located. Pulling all of the glow plugs for the initial turn over would ease the load on the starter plus give it time to lubricate everything inside the engine prior to fire up. Crank until a mist of fuel shoots from glow plug holes. Reinstall glow plug but don't connect wires, give it a sniff of either.

Most of it's already said. Glow Plug controller disconnect and ether. There's a bunch of variables and weak points between the lift pump and tank as you know. If it doesn't start or maintain running I'd unscrew the lift pump supply line and screw in an npt to barb adapter. Then you just soft line to a can hanging off the side or bumper.

If you wanted or needed to go that route let me know I think I have extra adaptors I can give you.

So it was of course the one issue I didn't anticipate...starter wire arcing like crazy somewhere between frame and oil pan.

6 hour ordeal so I'll figure it out once the dust settles here and I get another long overdue other truck back to its owner

If possible I really want to make it a long long crew cab (seats for the kids) flatbed toy hauler or flatbed. But first it has to start and get off my trailer.... which is going to be terrifying haha

I have always thought of doing something similar with a bus. Very few people realize the potential they have.It would be cool to shorten the rear of the body, and throw a flatbed on the back with a gooseneck and or fifth wheel hitch. If done right, it will look like the old centurion hauler vans.
