You might want to be a bit more specific about which Rotunda tool kit you'd like. There are many Ford Rotunda tool kits, most designed for particular job areas.

The kits are crazy high on fleabay, and most of the individual tools are pretty steep, too. Are there necessary tools that we can improvise without a machine shop? or OK substitutes that don't carry crazy collector's prices?

I have been working on these trucks for 20 years and never needed that kit. I am not even sure what some of that stuff is. What is so essential about it?

Alternatives to the tool kit:
For the injector lines, it's good to have a stubby 5/8 wrench for the injector end, and a flare nut socket for the pump end. The MAC SC140-USA is a 5/8" 12 point flare nut socket. For the injector pump, here's a picture I found on here that shows how to bend a wrench to fit.

How about other specialty tools for our engines?

A full size wrench can take off the injector lines if you start from the top on the pump. When you get to the bottom, undo the clamps that hold them to rest. Then is easy acces to get to them and reverse to reinstall the lines.
