When I did an engine swap a while back I also took the harness. But the pin out must have been different. The gp wires fryed right away.
Wasn't a problem in warm weather but now......

Anyway, I looked into making my own but with the time it'd take to chase parts and put it together, I think buying one could be a better deal.

Found an interesting one on eBay. Does anyone have experience with his harnesses or this type of gp connector?

dont use that kind, the wires are not equal length, therefore one "bank" of GPs with heat up more than the other which isnt good, that guy on Ebay, st_dieselparts takes 6.0 harnesses and tries to make them work for IDIs. Classic Diesel Designs @Thewespaul has a glow plug harness for sale aswell, this is the link. https://classicdieseldesigns.com/products/factory-turbo-location-glowplug-replacement-harness these are the only 2 options out there that i know of, hopefully this helps you
Thanks Miles1400.
Looks good and cheaper too!

I will be buying one from Wes in the future for my Ex Wife project truck. As far as I'm concerned, it's a must have before I even try to start the engine.

Me... I'm a build it yourself kinda guy. I did build my own.

But if you are going to buy a kit, let me put in another recommendation for Wes' kit.

I've had a new fire pop up so it may be a minute before I can go with a new harness. I can use the block heater for a while if i have to.

But, I'll be glad to look into Wes's harness.
How do I find him? I've tried searching the members list.

Thanks Phillip1
Looking at the two harnesses offered has me wondering.
I know that the engine I put in is a 94 idi and i thought it was a factory turbo.
It has the square intake and the cdr on the drivers side valve cover. But the glowplug controller is on the back of the engine, behind were a non-turbo cdr would be.
So does that mean that someone did a turbo upgrade to this engine? And that I need the non-turbo harness?

If you have a turbo on your truck I would recommend installing the gp controller in the turbo location. Behind the engine it could get too hot and get damaged by the turbo.

If you have the idit valve covers, you will have a plate attached to the passenger valve cover that the controller will bolt to. You will have to unbolt the controller from the back (there is 2 bolts that hold it to the intake) and move the existing wiring to the new controller location
