I have sprung a leak. I wanted to check the bolts but can't easily access the ones on the back. So since I hate working on cars I don't want to do this 2x. I have used Fel pro and Napa gaskets in the past on other cars with mixed results.

I've been happy with my new, rigid rubber gaskets from FelPro. I sealed them to the valve covers with RTV so I didn't have them flopping around when I installed the VC's to the head. So far, so good.

I have used the cork and rubber gaskets with good results.
I glue the gasket to the valve cover. dry on the cast side.

they both get hard, brittle, and crack in time.

I have had a poor success rate with the rubber gaskets. One side sealed up the other leaked through multiple gaskets and different valve covers. Installed a cork gasket and no more leaks. I think the rubber gaskets are stiffer then the valve cover flange. I install my gaskets dry, as rtv makes for more sealing surfaces and defeats the design of a gasket to expand a seal.
