When you first start up the engine how long should the clutch stay locked in? I've had other vehicles where the fan unlocks after 30 seconds but the one I have now has stayed locked up after a minute or 2. Haven't ran it long enough to determine if it stays locked all the time. With the engine offnl you can spin the fan with the normal resistance from the clutch

Should be fine as long as it has resistance. Mine is a Motorcraft. Tried the Hayden HD but it only lasted about 2 years

My RVs fan clutch felt weak resistance wise but seemed to always spin.

It ran around 190-195ish on the highway at 55-60 on a flat road. Highest I ever saw was about 210 I think.

With a new Motorcraft one from rockauto, now it runs about 182ish at 55-60 on a flat highway.

It got a new Motorcraft thermostat at the same time as the fan clutch since the upper radiator hose had to come off anyway.

Unfortunately, it seems to have lost about 1mpg hwy from replacing the fan clutch.
