Glad that it's shaping up for you. It's unfortunate that you have to "pull teeth", do your own QC and go back a second time to get what you payed for the first time around. I'm glad that when pressed, they just took it back and made it right without feeding you a song and dance.
It just keeps getting worse out there - parts are ****, people's misrepresentation of their knowledge and ability, rushing to finish and making mistakes along the way, sometimes even blaming the customer...

Yeah seriously. I always go in expecting a fight when this stuff should be straight forward. I just told them the heads looked beautiful, but there were a couple spec issues I wanted to see if they could refine because of super tight piston to valve clearance. Try not to go in pissed anymore. Never seemed to work.

Does seem like most things take two try to get right these days.

Of course! Twice, at least...

After all the straight spec talk on the heads, decided to order the comp cams 910-16 springs.

Using the lisle 36050 tool, removal takes one big smack from a big hammer. Cant use it to install because the small plastic umbrella seals fall out with the impact.

Old spring were easy to compress some with one hand. New springs barely budged.

After taking the exhaust valve springs off, found there were no exhaust valve stem seals. Fearing the worst, checked the 6.9 shop manual and and the illustrations show... no exhaust valve stem seal! ***?!

Looked in my gasket kit and found these clear little turds.

The small ones appear to press into the bottom of the keepers on all 16 valves? Except most people only install them on the exhaust side.

There was a point where Ford updated the valve train to include tradition seals o. The exhaust valves to reduce emissions, but too many people were burning up valve guides and they went the the clear umbrella seals.

In my opinion, any attempt at emissions on these was a joke and tended to shorten the life of parts in the head. I'm not convinced that any of these things actually did much.
