Yeah, that's a good idea. The expi tank like Greg used might be a good choice. Eliminate all that crap. If I hadn't already bought new fuel tanks I'd think hard about it myself.

i have a tank out of the 89 donar truck, it had a 460, but the rear tank is huge.
i can modify the sender out of the old rear tank to make it work, i hope.
and ill beable to delete the FSV. looks like only 2 wires for the sender, shouldnt be too hard to tackle.
and i can delete most of those wires!
you guys rock!
i was rackin my brain on this so bad that i cant sleep. 2 am, and all i can think about is...
fuel tanks, dynamat, primer, i should do some welding right now, but my luck my sweats would go up in flames! lol
rolling coal could be cool, but not when youre charcoal!

where did you get your tank from? how much did you pay?
just went to my local yard, got a hydroboost for the MANchero, and looked for a fuel tank.
they puncture all their tanks when they get a vehicle in -cuss

I ordered mine from amazon. They are spectre units. Missed the second part of the question. I think I had $90 in the front and $60 in the rear. Free two day shipping with prime. ;Sweet

yea, thats the same tank i have, deff a gas tank not for diesel, as you can see the pick up has a spot for the fuel pump.
im going to see what sender of mine works best and lengthen it.

the problem is that this tank was slated for another project... oah well

Rumor has it that the spectra tanks are suitable for diesel at least metallurgically speaking. Can't speak for shape. Guess I'll find out.

perhaps this isnt a 38 gallon tank, i went to install it today, and the bottom shield did not reach to the rear cross member.
im going to have to install some angle for the bottom to bolt up.
this is a metal rear tank out of a 89 F350 CCLB 460 with dual tanks.
its easy enough to mount the tank, i have not looked at the sending unit, and seen what i must do to lengthen it.
are these front tanks worth somthing?

welding sheet metal is killing me!
weld for 3 min, and waking away for 20.
takes forever! but hopefully it wont warp too much!
my company ships alot of product at the end of the month, so in a mad dash to get things done
before we take a week off for christmas, is draggin down my truck building!
im trying to get one of my friends to come over and work on it so i can worry about business.
also give him some extra coin for christmas, as he has a fab shop and no customers today.
this morning i did get the rear tank installed, i needed a mount for the bottom sheild,
so i used a spare cross member i had layin in the scrap pile.
some say this is a 38 gallon tank, but my e-searches say its a 22 gallon tank,
id prefer to have a larger tank, but reality is that if it is a 22 gallon tank, it will suit me just fine.
it does seem pretty huge.

now i gotta address the sender and see which one will work for me.
i will probally delete the gas in tank pump and extend the pick up.
now to get the fuel gauge to read right and delete the switch!

You're making great progress on this! I've seen projects take years to get to the same point that yours is at in a week or two. Keep it up!
