WOuld a 1993 Stepvan have the right 6.5 for this swap? If so, I can get it che!ap

    3.9 cummins swap?

Some bread trucks used 3.9's in front of TH400's...that adapter would let you use any GM trans.

    Mechanical 6.5 turbo?

What the heck is a DS4 pump? (Well, other than "bad"?) Would 1991-93 G-vans & P-30 chassis trucks use the same engine as pickups?

    Mechanical 6.5 turbo?

I'm going for a complete 6.5 TD conversion to replace a worn-out 6.2 Detroit. Are any years better than others? Did the Stepvans get them after 1993 or not?

    Mechanical 6.5 turbo?

I thought they made one...err, did they? If so, what truck do I need to find at a junkyard, and is it a direct swap for a 6.2 NA?

    6.2 transmission options

I have seen a TH-700 holding up behind a 502 Rat in a tag-axle Pace Arrow motorhome towing a trailer (combined weight about 30K). An underpowered 6.2 in a SUburban is no problem.

    6.2 overall health diagnosis

I was wondering if a later 6.5 (ideally a 6.5 turbo) might be a direct swap or close to it.

    6.2 transmission options

You forgot the obvious choice: a TH-700R4 as used in my wife's diesel Blazer. No computer needed, bolts in like it was designed to (because it was).

    IDI into Mustang

A Fox car will swallow a 460 even with 1 7/8" primary headers. Tight, but it fits. The only clearance issue is actually height: even a low-rise intake and drop-base air cleaner needs a cowl hood. I saw one running a Performer RPM and a 1/2" carb spacer and it JUST cleared with a 5" cowl hood...

    7.3 into an 86 ford

Well...you'll need a bellhousing and clutch for the T-19, I suspect any IDI/T-19 truck would work as a bell donor. I THINK the T-19 was used in some Stepvans and I think the 7.3 has one of the SAE bell patterns...if so, any bell with the right bolt pattern should work. You may want to think...

Update: With 49-degree outside temps, the Blazer flat wouldn't start without being plugged in this morning. Not wanting to ether it, Liz took her Grand National to work (terrible sacrifice, I know)...after the block heater ran an hour and a half, the engine popped easily, though with the same...

    Cummins in a 2005 SD

Well, I think the owner got the full swap kit from F-C, which has all the wiring adaptors. Slightly scary: the conversion is LESS than the dealer wanted for swapping for another 6.doh. Talk about a no-brainer... (The head of the service department DID say he wanted to see the truck...

    6.2 overall health diagnosis

Blarg. Did the checks yesterday...compression is fairly even in all 8, but here are the numbers... Left bank, F to R: 290, 288, 291, 276 Right bank, same: 287, 279, 290, 271 I think the rings are on their way out. :(

    Easy/cheap 12V upgrades?

It might cook the transmission! If it has the non-lockup AT542 or AT545 I expect, that is NOT a strong transmission.

    Cummins in a 2005 SD

Engine has to be a 2005 or newer in a 2005 truck to pass emission check...found a wrecked 2005 dually for a donor.

    My Fummins Project

My 79 Fummins has a stock-replacement radiator and flex hoses...hmm...Dodge radiator. *slaps forehead* DUH! Why didn't I think of that?!

    Cummins in a 2005 SD

Truck is an F-450 XLT wrecker, 6.0/TorqueShift, 2WD, 230,000 miles, currently dead due to someone putting morter mix in the fuel tank. Considering the truck is on its third engine already (first two warrantied) and, well, is a 6.doh...might be Cummins time. So, err...is the Ford-Cummins...

    6.2 overall health diagnosis

My wife has the Snail: Tatonka Products Bummer body on 1986 K-5 Blazer running gear (6.2/TH700). The IP and all 8 injectors have been replaced, engine never rebuilt & has about 210,000 miles on it. I have a GM truck manual, but it doesn't have anything on the 6.2 in it...so I'm asking here...

    Except it's not an MDT: 1979 F-350 with a 6BT from a 1994 Spartan-chassis stepvan. I need answers on both.

A high, short-wheelbase DJ with an 850+lb Cummins just scares me to even consider.

    2spd rear problem

    1) Go to junkyard. 2) Find truck with air-brakes & 2-speed axle. 3) Swap both axles into 89. 4) Pull crane apparatus & put it on new Freightliner. 5) Sell cab & chassis to my boss cheap, since a 5+2 F-800 rollback would be a GOOD thing. :) Seriously, sounds internal. Axle might be...
