Truck is an F-450 XLT wrecker, 6.0/TorqueShift, 2WD, 230,000 miles, currently dead due to someone putting morter mix in the fuel tank. Considering the truck is on its third engine already (first two warrantied) and, well, is a 6.doh...might be Cummins time.

So, err...is the Ford-Cummins stuff any good? Also, any difference between 2004 and 2005 Cummins engines in Dodges? Has a line on a donor from a wrecked dually, but it's a 2004.

From everything that ive read and expierenced with Destroked is better. The 2003-2004.5 is the best common rail to put into a ford. Has the best fuel mileage capablities and is pretty much stand alone with very little wiring to incorparte itno the ford harness. I just did a 12v swap in my 2004 F-350 ZF6, and just finished putting a 2004.5 motor in my brothers 2006 f-350 auto. both run great and havn't missed a beat.

Engine has to be a 2005 or newer in a 2005 truck to pass emission check...found a wrecked 2005 dually for a donor.

O gotcha we dont have emission checks in louisiana. Its really not that hard to put that motor it is still pretty much the same swap. A little more electronics but not much.

Well, I think the owner got the full swap kit from F-C, which has all the wiring adaptors.

Slightly scary: the conversion is LESS than the dealer wanted for swapping for another 6.doh. Talk about a no-brainer...

(The head of the service department DID say he wanted to see the truck post-Cummins swap. :D )
