    Sold My Truck

I actually did tell her about the forum, hopefully she will use it to her advantage. I felt like I was cheating on my wife when I drove off. Trucks don't have feelings right??

    Sold My Truck

I want to say thanks to all of those on the forum that have given me advice or information in the past on my truck. I sold my '85 today, just not enough room in the garage to keep it. I got a fair price for it and I think the girl (yes a young woman who trains horses bought it) will enjoy it...

    U Joint How to?

The front u joint (closest to transmission) is going bad. Can it be replaced without removing the whole driveshaft. Anyone have good instructions on changing this?

Very Clean Low Miles '85 Lariat, plus some

I have some numbers in my head, but right now I'm open to offers. I know some people don't like to price another man's stuff, and I respect that, but with all the different locations represented on this forum I'm curious to what others think it is worth. I see your in Texas if your close to...

Very Clean Low Miles '85 Lariat, plus some

I hate to do it, but the time has come for me to sell my '85. A little history on the truck, I'm the second owner. Bought it form the original owners widow about 4 years ago. The truck spent most of it's time with the original owner in the barn as when I bought it, it had 104,000 miles on it...

aquired 20 gallons of pink colored marine diesel fuel. anyone ever used it???

You would use IRS Form 4316. I work for a school district, they are untaxable and this is how they get their money back on fuel purchased for maint. trucks, buses, ag science trucks, etc. But individuals can do the same thing with diligent paper work.

aquired 20 gallons of pink colored marine diesel fuel. anyone ever used it???

Although it would be a paper work nightmare. You can actually get the taxes back on unleaded fuel that you run in your lawnmowers, four wheelers, etc.. Most of the taxes are ROAD taxes, and therefore you can get them back if you have all the paper work in order showing where it went to a non...

What did everyone else do with their tax return

I'm in the group that wants to have their taxes work out where I either get nothing back or I owe very little. There are too many times during the year that I want to buy something, not just in Feb. or March. I try and do as much pre tax as I can at work (457B, max out Flex Spending Accounts...

    What's it worth?

Gonna be doing some vehicle selling and buying in the next couple of months. I'm having trouble deciding which to keep and which to sell. I have a 2001 F250 2wd, Ext. Cab, automatic, clean clean truck. "55,000" miles on it. I'm not sure what this truck would be worth (I haven't seen any with...

Broke Glow Plug Tip follow up

Threads are definitely not engaged (there not there). It's just the tip stuck down below the threaded part. It's definitely not going down, I believe it will work it's way out eventually and running up a grade loaded may be the ticket. I'm very curious as to the noise it's making. I know the...

Broke Glow Plug Tip follow up

What would a 6.9 sound like without a glow plug screwed in one of the holes. I broke a stuck tip off and tried blowing it out with compression from the motor. Truck cranks and runs fine but has a definite tick on that cylinder. It looks like the tip is still stuck in the gp hole, but I'm not...

    Ohhhh Crap

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I got some pondering to do on this. Try and let the compression blow it out, or poke it through at TDC and try and suck it out with vacumm through injector hole. Next question, I've read about getting the cylinders to TDC, but I'm curious as to how you know...

    Ohhhh Crap

One other question, if it decides to let go and fall tonight (good grief I'm hoping not) could the cylinder be brought to TDC if it falls that far with tip laying on top of it. Which I'm imagining it would fall that far since the piece in there is so small. I'm not familiar with what the...

    Ohhhh Crap

Replacing glow plugs and all WAS going great, until the LAST one. All the old plugs were Beru and not swollen but the carbon was keeping them from coming out easily. So with some spray loosening the carbon and letting them sit for a bit all was going great. Until the last one, didn't use any...

    How Long????

Silly question, but here goes. I'm replacing glow plugs, originals are beru and not swollen (thank goodness). But there is some carbon build up making them tight towards the end coming out. I soaked em with sea foam deep creep (100% pure petroleum). As you can imagine some of this gets into...

Problems with truck, question on ATF in filter

Truck has been sitting most of the winter, I would crank every so often and let if idle for a while. The other day I drove it up town, and thought I had run out of diesel as I have the dreaded 1/4 tank blues. Truck seemed to run fine at highway speeds, but when I let out of it to turn into gas...

    Another Glow Plug Question????

My wife was going to be nice one morning and decided she would crank my truck for me as she was leaving for work to let it warm up. I got to work and everything seemed fine, until she called and asked "how long is the glow plug light supposed to stay on?". I told her it normally stays on 10...

Looking for a needle in a haystack

Speedometer might, it would have to be cut off as its is too long. The others wont work because they attach different.

Looking for a needle in a haystack

Been there done that or at least tried something similar. But the piece the needle slides onto is recessed ever so slightly in the hole of the cluster, and makes it difficult to attach anything but the correct needle to it.

Looking for a needle in a haystack

I'm looking for a tachometer needle for my 85. I have the cluster with tach, but the needle is gone. I've tried some other needles I found at parts house (and one from an 89), but none fit. If anyone has one or knows where I might find one, I'd appreciate it.

    picked up some goodies

Same color as my truck. I always thought the light blue pinstripe around the bottom was added on mine (but yours has it too). Why in the world Ford thought that was a pretty combination I'll never know. I'm going to try and take mine off. I think the Light (neon) blue looks out of place with...

Why & How Did You Get Here.

I was attempting to deep fry my first turkey, and burned the peanut oil. Put something in google like "burnt oil what to do" and all of the searches came back to "Oilburners.net". No seriously everytime I searched anything pertaining to a diesel I was always drawn to the answers posted on OB...

    Need some help locating number

I've searched the site and internet to no avail. Im trying to determine which block/block heater I have. I've been on, under, above the engine and i cant find the numbers I'm looking for. I've found a number on the intake, and their is an 85 stamped below valve cover. I have read that I'm...
