my 92 7.3 idi has been hesitating at higher rpm’s and smoking a bit this morning I went to go do work with her and she bogged on me and started to smoke then shut off I managed to limp home is this a sighn my injection pump is on it’s last leg or is there something else I can look at I just changed the injection pump it was a used one but looked good and has been on truck working well until now

Lucio, you could have a bad pump but let’s eliminate the cheaper/easier things first.

1. Make sure you have more than a quarter tank of fuel in both tanks

2. Make sure you are getting fuel pressure at the filter head with no air intrusion. A clear hose and a pressure gauge will verify this for you. If you can run a long line to verify you have pressure while driving even better.

3. Make sure your air filter is clean and unrestricted.
