Anybody ever try to swap the wiper arms off a newer truck onto a brick nose? The brick nose has the pin type connector (not that it really matters) but mine are a little ratty so I thought if I could get a set of newer ones that you can flip for snow and they fit, it might be a worthwhile upgrade.

I've never owned a vehicle newer than 1986, so I'm a little confused... Why is the wiper arm relevant? What is this flipping for snow? I've never seen (or noticed, at least) a double sided blade. I thought blade were blades, there are cheap blades that work well enough for a bit and there are more expensive blades that work better for longer? I have several options for all my vehicles but I'm a little disappointed it has become difficult to find refills for my old stuff with brushed aluminum arms and blade holders.

Newer arms on most things bend in the middle. They let you pick the wiper off the windshield and it stay of the windshield. Very useful in cold climate for keeping your wiper blades in good shape. It keeps you from having them freeze to the windshield and messing them up peeling them off.

Oh, I've seen that. I just start the truck and let it warm up with defroster on and fan on high and rub the ice off the blades. If the windshield has iced up you need to clear the ice anyhow so it always seemed silly to me to that those new cars have flip up arms. Can't comment if knocking ice off blades damaged them but I replace mine annually, if I try for two winters they are sub-par. I usually end up with the cheap Trico blades. Curious if people with flip up arms get two or more years out of blades...

Stock 1996 arms were a direct swap onto my truck, and have the hook style end, rather than the pin style. They do NOT however, flex and stand off the windshield on their own for those frosty mornings. I installed them to benefit from the better wiper blade technology that only seems to have hook style attachment.

Chit, I'm lucky to get a full year out of wiper blades.
Cheapo or expensive ones.
Can't comment on the wiper arms. You can get some blades with heaters built in. A little spendy, but they have something like a 3 year guarantee.

Good question. I was actually talking with my brother about this yesterday.

I've been buying the $5 Walmart brand blades lately because cheap or expensive blades only last a few months anyway :dunno

I'm with you. I typically buy the cheap ancos and replace them twice a year. Usually fall and spring. Snow and ice is ******* them and then the summer sun beats them up.

Good tip on the 96 arms. I would think they would cross to a 91... surely the ends are the same. Should be easy enough to figure out.
