I have a 1990 long bed F350 and have an option to get a very nice long bed F350 bed from a 2008. I just thought it would be cool to have a newer bed on the older truck. I am sure the mounts might need changing but does anyone know if the wheel wells would line up? Thanks for any advice anyone might have. ;Sweet

If you measure from the front of the bed to the front edge of the wheel well on your bed I could compare it to my dads 2002 f250. If it fits you will end up wanting a newer cab!

Thanks a bunch, I just went out and measured it's about 56.5 inches from the front of the bed to the center of the wheel well. I don't want to switch the cab I like the old girl, I just got a great line on a really clean bed and canopy from a 2008 and thought I might give it a shot and see what it would look like. Thanks for the help.

I don't know if it was an 08 but there was a pic posted on OB some time ago of an older truck with the newer bed. It was odd looking!

Not sure if these are the pics you're talking about, but I saw this truck and took these pics a couple of years ago. Based on this, I'd say that it is possible to do, but I would recommend against it. It may bolt to the frame, but nothing will line up body-wise and it'll look like autolite. IMHO you'd be better off with a flat bed (and this is coming from a guy who isn't all that big a fan of flat beds)...

I'm sure it will bolt to the frame, but none of the body lines will match up. Aerodynamics from then and from now are very very different.

Adrian, that is the truck I remember. Earlier cab than the OP has but still the same effect.
Maybe if the bed were mounted a little higher or the bottom edge were trimmed it might look better, but still not quite right.

The lines wont match up. If you absolutly need a bed, I guess you can make it work. But it wont really look all that great, I think most of us would agree.

wow.that looks horrible.
i agree.don't do it.keep looking for a good solid bed,or build your own flatbed.

now what would be cool,is to set an old cab and bed onto an '08 chassis.:)

All the late model stuff has gone to a single fuel cell and filler neck. They got smart and got rid of the FSV.
