this thing has never been hooked up for as long as i have owned the truck and never really gave it any thought till i seen it, and figured where the plug went.... what is it ? it is also behind the radio and heater controls...

Might be the rear ABS control box. I'd have to dig through the parts I stripped out of the '90 to see what they say on them, I think there was 2 under there and I don't recall what the 2nd one was for.
